Coles will re-sign with the team tomorrow for what is expected to be a short stint, a person with direct knowledge of the transaction confirmed. The news was first reported by CBS Sports. The Jets have a vacant roster spot after safety Jim Leonhard was placed on injured reserve this morning. Coles, who will be on his fourth stint with the Jets, will be the sixth receiver on the roster this weekend. It's possible this is a motivational tactic by coach Rex Ryan, who is known for finding ways to get his team up for big games. Earlier this year, for instance, the Saints re-signed running back Deuce McAllister days before their divisional round playoff game against the Cardinals. He was an honorary captain and announced his plans to retire days later. It would also give Coles the chance to retire as a Jet. Coles began his career with the Jets in 2000, and played seven seasons for the franchise between 2000 and 2002 and again between 2005 and 2008. He rejoined the team before training camp this summer, but was cut before the season began.
Hmmm I'm really wondering what the Jets officials have to say about this. Maybe they think he's better than Turner but why not just sign him over Turner in the first place?
