he's towing the company line.....remember, he's in competition for that big money contract with Holmes.....and right now, i'd say Holmes is winning that race.

this is what i hate about the nfl damn it breaking up teams, if u TRADE a player away because u WANT 2 thats a different reason, but hey if it wasnt 4 free agency we wouldnt have woody, LT. bart scott etc

As far as KR sure why not... for the wildcat I don't think he's ever run it right?

As much as I like Brad Smith...You have to keep the teams best WR core

As long as we come away with one of our big wideouts (preferably Holmes)....I'm happy.

Smith fills multiple roles on this team.....he's invaluable. Would i offer him a big contract? fuck no.....but if I'm Tanny, I would make a deal with Satan himself to convince Smith to sign on the cheap.....i believe he's THAT important.

If Smith wants the big money....then let him sign elsewhere.

Ryan has said many times there is no way he will let Smith walk. They will find a way.

Of course they will.....the fact that Smith is plugged into 3 or 4 roles on this team...allows Rex to utilize roster spots for additional depth (we know he likes to dress additional CBs, for example)

If they let Smith walk.....they'll need to find someone who can run the seminole, be a kick returner, a special teams tackler, emergency QB, and provide depth at the Slot Receiver position.

    Holmes > Edwards.

I can't believe some like Edwards better...crazy shit.

Edwards needs to be the odd man out. Production vs his projected cost is outrageous.

I'm in favor of shit canning Edwards, keeping Smith and drafting a WR such as Austin Pettis, Leonard Hankerson or Titus Young.

Anyone wanting to get rid of Harris hasn't got a freakin clue.

Harris is a Jets defensive stalwart....anybody wanting to get rid of him is either retarded or has endured a lobotomy.

And I agree with the rest of your post too, WW.....I like Edwards (he's certainly improved over the last season, and I was a big supporter of the trade that brought him over here)...but he's certainly expendable and should be the odd man out....if that situation should arise.

Holmes is a special player, has excellent hands and can run routes with the best of them.....I would miss Braylon's downfield blocking.....but Holmes has to be retained at all costs.

Holmes is a game changer and probably one of the top "clutch" players in the NFL.

Holmes steps up in crunch time.

Revis & Harris are to 2 most important defensive players on the Jets...end of story.

I really think we need to find a way to keep Brad Smith. He's too valuable to this team. He can play many different roles and does so at a very high level.

Huh? You can say we haven't had a lot of draft picks, because they were used to trade for guys like Edwards, Holmes, Cromartie, Jenkins, etc. But to say Tanny hasn't drafted well?

    Sanchez, Greene, Slauson in 09.

Gholston was a bust in 08, but Keller has become a major player and Lowery is a contributor.

In 07 we got Revis and Harris. You might have heard of those guys.

06 brought us D'Brick, Mangold, Eric Smith, Brad Smith, Leon Washington, and Drew Coleman.

Then when you consider undrafted guys who are on the roster or were, like DeVito (starter), Woodhead, Mulligan, Rob Turner, Cumberland, Turner (brought in cheap, drafted by another team), Westermann, Mauga, Ihedigbo, Cole.. those guys are all basically equal to late round picks who fill out the roster.

If Sanchez and our passing game improve than we would not need a wildcat offense anymore. But I love Brad and hope he stays :)

I hope were able to retain B-rad.. He is a dynamic player that doesn't come around all to often.

IMO though Harris and Holmes have to be first priority above all else. The more I watch Holmes play the more I can't envision this offense without him in it. Amazing article about him on the main page at espn.com right now as well.

This silly speculation is based on BS as a WR. Nonsense. BS is one of those players that has tremendous value to his team for a great many reasons, but really won't fit on another team in the same way. We will re-sign him as our "Slash" man regardless of how our WR situation plays out. He should command in the 2 million/year range and we should let Tanny get it done. EOS.
