The wildcat formation with Brad Smith seems not to be producing as much as it was. I don't understand why they don't let the guy throw more often. It seems that teams have figured out how to defend the option and they key on the run. By adding the threat of a throw it adds another degree of variability to the package.
the fact that he doesn't throw now doesn't mean he won't throw later. This, I think is clever he will throw when it is the least obvious!Trust your coaches!
This is the type of game where you break that type of tendency. You save a play like a Brad Smith throw out of the whatever they are calling it now for a big game. This would certainly be a big game and if they are getting whatever look they have designed a pass for from the Pats the play needs to be called. There are certain games where you pull out all the stops, this would be one of them.
I really think smith throws it in this game especially if the jets are losing. For 11 weeks now smith has run the option and not once has he thrown it so teams expect the run if they're in the Seminole/tigercat/whatever.
He threw a TD to Keller against the Bills. He may have had an option to throw it another time but opted out.
I feel like everytime we run the seminole its a run straight up the gut. Unless of course we run an option to the outside which doesnt seem nearly as successful
Totally agree. If my memory serves me correctly last year they waited until the afccg to have Smith throw the ball (could be wrong) and it had great results. They will get everybody thinking "here comes a run up the gut" then BAM! touchdown pass from Smith because the entire secondary is cheating up for the run. I hope the Jets kick their asses and take this division from their cold defeated hands.:metal:
The Jets are gonna throw the kitchen sink @ New England, which includes Smith throwing. I really think we're gonna see a Smith throw in this game. I think he'll throw it on a double reverse to Santonio Holmes for a big gain
I'm not sure I agree with you. The Seminole makes defense's have to choose what they will do; either try to clog up the middle or stay with their blockers and try to reach out and grab him. I think the formation led to the break down on the end around against the Bungles. It also paid dividends in the playoffs last year. I do believe they will let him throw , and I think it will be this game.
Throw is coming and Belichick knows it. If they're going to run the wildcat 7 times a game, I think they should throw at least once or twice out of it...would make the runs more effective.
It is nice that they could catch NE on their heels since he has not thrown much. But having the threat that he will throw opens the run and make the running plays more successful. It add another dimension to the variability of the play. Hopefully they can make it payoff this week but in general they needs to mix it up better to keep teams off balance.
Lol this is like a "Free Brad Smith" thread.... I love it. I am all for opening up the wildcat, just dont run it in fucking stupid situations.... like 2nd and 24...
I don't understand why the punter has had the "option" to run on kicks if he sees something, but Brad doesn't have the option to throw a quick wide out screen if he sees the defense cheating. Often I notice that there will times when 1 CB is covering 2 wide outs when we run the seminole. Why can't a screen be checked into by Brad when he sees this???
Because one of the two WR's is almost always Sanchez. I don't want him blocking for a screen and I certainly don't want him catching one. I know you don't like Sanchez so that might not be a concern for you but I think it is for most everyone else.
