I fixed the Eagle thing, just another screw up. I don't think the Niners will take a QB this early unless they decide to axe the Singletary regime, and I'm not sure they're quite ready to do that yet. I think they will absolutely look for a veteran Quarterback to guide all of that pretty damn good offensive talent. They might draft a kid later on to either be a long term backup or compete with the rookie next year if they can't get it together next season. That said, I still don't HATE Troy Smith as a potential starter, but it's probably too late to make him anything other than solid at best.
The only vets they could possibly run with Free agent wise next season would be , Kerry Collins, Matt Hasselback, and Kyle Orton (who i doubt leaves Denver). Every other QB is basically a low end starter. I agree I think they stick with Troy for one season and If that blows up in there face pick a QB in next seasons draft. Though , now thinking about it if Mallet came out do you think they'd ever trade back and pick him? He could be a franchise QB in time with enough coaching around him.
No QB short of Andrew Luck would good enough, soon enough for them to take advantage of all they have right now; and even that would be just a chance considering how young he is (if he came in with Harbaugh then we might be talking). Mallet would have no chance for at least a year, and I really doubt Cam would either. I'm not saying they need to go out and get a premier QB, but just a quality QB that won't turn the ball over can get them to the top of their division rather quickly.
