But that's the rules committee adding in bullshit pro-QB rules that take away from the game. Leading with the helmet square in the numbers of a QB should never be a penalty in football, but the rules says it is so its called. Its fucking embarrassing. Digs' hit should be legal at the NFL level. Its absurd.
But wait, you said this thread was pathetic.... Is it sad that we have to discuss it?..sure is. Is it sad that it's the damn truth?...yep. I don't like to bitch about officiating but doesn't mean I won't when there is a blatant call or fuk up on their part.
The rules says leading with your helmet - that is totally different than planting your facemask in the chest -- sorry the rules do not say that hit was a penalty - plain and simple a bad call. The way Inhedigbo made that hit is exactly how every football player from Pee-wee on up is TAUGHT how to tackle.
Thank you! I don't watch football so I can talk about the refs. They are human beings and will make mistakes; can we please cut the bullshit conspiracy theories/accusations of favoritism/why do they hate my team retarded lines of discussion?
Easy to say when you are getting the benefit of the refs. Do you know coughlin has not lost a challenge all year? Todays was an absolute joke, no fn way was that conclusive to overturn the call on the field. The officiating is a complete joke this year, some teams are making out better than others. I watch enough football to know what I am seeing.
What made it worse was his reasoning. He said he "before the 2nd foot came down" That was absolutely ridiculous because he had possession and the foot was already down, It was a straight up BS call. It was almost as if he just needed a reason and that was the best he could do.
If you think that there's some sort of grand conspiracy by the refs to hold the Jets back, then you're either a seriously troubled conspiracy theorist or just plain stupid. Lots of calls go against the Jets, but it's not because Goodell or the zebras are out to get us; it's because the refs suck at their jobs, and blow calls all over the place. Just look at the Bengals game: yeah a few really bad penalties got called against New York, but Cincy lost what should've been an Ochocinco touchdown and that fumble that didn't appear to actually hit a Bengal. There's no conspiracy, there's just a bunch of average, middle aged men who can't keep up with the speed of the game, don't fully understand the overly convoluted rulebook, and make poor calls as a result.
Yup, it's a joke. That was disgusting. Considering the giants kicked a fieldgoal, and won by 4 with the jaguars in fieldgoal range at the end of the game, I would say that worked out well for the giants. And anyone who questions the PI call against Denver is really dumb. If you don't call that there, might as well not have a PI penalty. Not to mention the 3 BS PI calls against the jets in the same game that were not even in the same class as that one. Conspiracy or not, it's fucking BS.
Yeah the refs suck balls but in watching games they suck for everyone. This year has the worst officiating I have ever seen.
Yes, because clearly the Giants are the only team in the league to benefit from officiating. There totally hasn't been any other teams that have won games they should have lost due to questionable PI calls inside the 10, good point! Coughlin hasn't lost a challenge because he's a stickler for the rules and is smart with use of throwing the red flag. He's been damned good with his challenges for sometime; it seems to me that if you "watch enough football to know {you are} seeing" you should be aware of this. I do agree that the officiating this year has been pretty awful though. I think they need to break up these officiating teams based on the individual performances of each ref and try to put together more balanced groups of officials. What they got now ain't cutting it. Oh, and FWIW the Giants were actually penalized more times and for more yards than the Jags yesterday (including having a TD taken off the board). If you honestly feel that the Giants, or any team, is consistently being helped by the officials please make an argument for why that doesn't rely solely on your own opinions and emotions.
