Did you not see JT with like 3 passes batted down on the line too. Hes also been good at stopping the run. Its kinda hard to complain about what JT has done so far.

If what your alluding to is value...

JT is playing to what I expected. He might not be racking up double digit sacks, but hes still causing OCs to gameplan for him, so IMO that amounts to the same thing.
JT for Feeley, yeah worth it, just.

We have Nick Folk who I didn't want, Feeley fan here. But he hasn't been bad. Up until the shanked PAT I was in his corner. This guy has some serious head issues and needs to get them sorted ASAP or..... oops thats it, hes the best available, better get behind the dude and give him our support

That's great but he was brought here to add to our pass rush and he has been a complete non factor rushing the passer.

Overall he's had a decent year, he's been great against the run but that is not why we signed him and allowed the best K we ever had to leave.

Why was he signed? to help against the run or to rush the passer? has he rushed the passer well? Do we have a reliable kicker now?

No OC's are gameplanning for jason taylor. he is easily being handled one on one and is not putting any pressure on the QB.

Folk had a great start but he's been shaky for the last 5-6 weeks for the most part. The man missed a PAT in preseason, he nearly missed one Thursday. Do you have confidence in him? I don't.

What he was brought here for has become irrelevant since he has done far more than simply rush the passer. If he had been just a situational pass rusher at any point this season I would be inclined to agree that he wasn't worth picking up. The fact is that while he has not been a dominant force as a pass rusher, he has found more than enough ways to contribute for me to consider him a valuable part of the defense.

Kickers are kickers and that will never change for me. You can't name me a kicker who hasn't failed in a big spot before. At this point if we had Feely, or anyone else besides Folk, There is a good possibility that the Jets have a few more points up on the board than they do with Folk. I do not think it is that great a possibility that the Jets have a record better than 9-2 so I don't see how a different kicker would have had more of an impact than Taylor has.

At this point the Jets have two options. Hope that in the next game where it matters that Folk is putting them down the middle. Or, bring in a new kicker and hope that the next time it matters he puts them all down the middle. All kickers end up letting you down at some point, it's just a matter of having the one that won't let you down at the wrong time.

he is a situational pass rusher now, he played more in the beginning of the year b/c of the pace injury.

It is not irrelevant why he was brought here. We have NO PASS RUSH and he was brought here to rush the passer. It's great that he batted a few balls or is good against the run but that is not why we brought him here and I guarantee you if they knew this would be the result they would have kept Feely.

This doesn't mean it will end up like this, Folk could become consistent and hit some big kicks, jason could make one huge play in a big game rushing the passer and it could work out but so far it's been one of the few bad moves we made.

unless you think having Feely would have the Jets at 10-1 or 11-0 I don't see how you can consider it a bad move. It hasn't worked out how it was expected to work but it has still worked in the Jets favor to this point.

We might have the same record w/ feely but that doesn't mean anything. We wouldn't have gone to OT to beat Cle and we'd feel much more comfortable down the stretch and in postseason w/ our K. I'm not worried about the games we have played w/ Folk, I am worried about the games to be played. One missed kick could send us home, one missed kick could mean the 5 seed instead of the 1 seed. Maybe he doesn't hurt us? I hope that is the case, we have our best shot at the SB since 1968 as we could get the top seed and host 2 playoff games- I just don't want to see that screwed up by our K.

That's where we differ. I wouldn't feel much better about Feely. There will probably be a playoff game that comes down to one kicker making a kick that other team's kicker couldn't. Feely has shown that he has just as much an ability to miss a big kick as any other kicker. I am going to be concerned about whoever the kicker is heading into the playoffs. They all let you down.

I think you had far to high expectations for a part time player. BTW instead of making fun of JT 4 sacks that lead the team as a P/T player why not make fun of the rest of the NYJs who all have less then 4 sacks as full time players like Ellis, Pace, Harris Pouhla, De Vito? :jets:

Taylor usually shows up in divisional games. I expect to see him fuckstarting Brady's face next Monday night.

feely made hughe kicks in our 2 playoff wins. I felt and would feel really confidnet w/ him- not so uch w/ Folk. Taht doesn't mean feely makes it and folk misses it but that's just how I feel. Feely was more reliable.

yes, my expectations were incredibly high for a guy brought in specifically to rush the passer that has not been able to rush the passer. What was I thinking? Luckily the jets realized he could bat passes down and play well against the run, we still don't have any pass rush but we a guy who barely plays on run downs can stop the run so mission accomplished!

Taylor's history is of a player who never shows up in big games. My hope all along has been as a part time player maybe he doesn't feel the pressure like he used to be but in his career he has always struggled in big games.

Good points. Looking at the situation with them in mind, I think Folk has to go. Rex has been blunt regarding Folk's performances, esp. of late. And both he and Westhoff freely expressed concern even as far back as the preseason. Weird, publicly questioning a player your team just signed. (Was the Vikings game an anomaly? Ya gotta wonder...) Yet for all we know (and which I doubt), Folk may have responded well in practice with another kicker there nosing around for his job. Damn, we're all grasping at straws over this, it seems, between wanting to support him and facing the facts. I know! Let's just upgrade our red-zone efficiency!

Maybe I have a poor memory but how many big games has Taylor really been involved in?
