I could care less what stats have to say, the Jets will win because they are destined to win. The Patriots are scum and so are there fan base. They are all band wagon jumpers.
Besides the obvious statistical advantage, the Jets have the confidence of knowing they beat this team pretty handily only 8 weeks ago, and they did it without several key players. We were just getting over losing Jenkins in Week 1, didn't have Holmes in the line up yet, didn't have our best all-pro defensive back, and didn't have our best pass rusher. Now that the team has all those pieces back in place and all are working pretty well I can't see how the Patriots will overcome that. And now they don't even have Randy Moss to tie up one of our DB's with. I mean Cromartie and Revis are just going to be all over the place in this next game, you will never know exactly who they are going to cover on any particular play. Brady is going to be faced with a brand new Rubex cube defense on every single play and he'll only have a certain amount of time to figure it all out before he winds up on his back. No I just don't see things working out for the Pats in this game. They'll still be 9-3 when it over though, and still a threat to win the division, but I don't consider them much of a threat in this particular game though. They just don't have the personnel to cover everything the Jets have to throw at them.
And need I remind you that they didn't just lose to the Cleveland Browns... they got absolutely manhandled and destroyed by them. BY THE CLEVELAND BROWNS! DESTROYED BY THE CLEVELAND BROWNS! (Wish I knew how to blow that last statement up in flashing red letters). LOST TO THE CLEVELAND BROWNS BY 20 POINTS! 34-14 TO THE CLEVELAND BROWNS! And who did the Cleveland Browns lose to the following week? THE NEW YORK JETS! Maybe you're right. Maybe we shouldn't even play this game. Just give us the win and move on to Chicago where you're probably gonna lose again.
You watched Sanchez play yet throw out everything you saw since opposing teams "bailed him out"? That is some awesome analysis right there, almost worthy of Joey Sunshine. You clearly have no desire to discuss and understand the upcoming game. You clearly are here to troll.
Not here to troll at all. I do have a desire to discuss the upcoming game. Sanchez actually said he didn't play well on the thursday night game. nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/11/jets_qb_mark_sanchez_disappoin.html he said he was disappointed in his play and took a step in the wrong direction. He is directly contradicting you. What I am saying is that I am not as high on Sanchez as you are. Call me a homer, call me a troll, but I am neither of those. His stats coupled with his play are not that impressive. I do believe the Jets can win this game, but I think it will be more on defense than anything else. I believe I'm entitled to my own opinion as much as you are. Thats no reason to just call me a troll. p.s. additionally you are the one that brought up sanchez and how "well" he has been playing. I was just responding to whether i've even watched sanchez play or any jets game. If you don't want me to discuss it, don't bring it up
Obviously you haven't watched a lot of the Pats this year nor have you been paying attention to how teams have been able to move the ball against the Jets. Both play into an advantage and a huge one for New England. Aaron Hernandez is going to torch us and it scares the crap out me that they also have another capable TE in Gronkowski. If you think Joel Dreesen had a big game against us wait till Monday night. We can't get any pressure on the QB so Brady will have time to pick apart our linebackers and safetys. Unlike any other team we have played the Pats don't need to have success running the ball to beat us. Green Bay laid out the blue print. You also fail to take into account the Shittenheimer factor. We are giving this guy 11 days to prepare for this game so you know he is going to have every unsuccessful trick play in his arsenal as well as more time to outhink himself.
aye Do you think the Jets spent any time at all game planning to stop Joel Dreesen? Do you think they will spend some time game planning to stop the Pats TE's? Do you think we'll be able to keep more d-backs on the field because they don't have a real threat in the running game like the Texans? Back to Dreesen - that long TD he had was nothing more than a blown coverage. What blueprint did GB lay out? Just shut us out and you'll win. Awesome.
You brought Sanchez up, in this context: Lets discuss some of the other QBs to take apart the Pasts secondary. Carson Palmer 34/50 for 345 and 2 TDs Chad Henne 28/38 for 305 and 2 TDs Ryan Fitzpatrick 20/28 for 247 and 2 TDs If you don't believe the Sanchez has been playing better than these three, you're drinking Boston city water. To base your analysis on his stats and his play on the last game shows no effort to understand.
It is depressive week here on the green farm. We have to counterpoint the pasts trolls and the depressive Jets fans all at the same time.
People act like Mangini is still the coach and "we're going to take the same consistent approach" from week to week and not adjust our defense for the opponent. Lucky for him he has a Ryan coaching his D now - oh and he had a pretty good plan to stop the Pasts - I think Rex may be privy to that. I forgot to mention the Pats D isn't on the same planet as the Packers. So that whole shutout blueprint is going to be difficult to follow.
Once we beat the pats, analyst will have no choice but to give us props. They were able to stretch the field with Moss, branch is good; but no moss. Our shut down corners will give the pats fits. The intermediate game with the tightends will suffer from that. It will come down to welker and our very own Woodhead to beat us. It ain't gonna happen; we have too many playmakers on both sides of the ball as well as special teams.
We're not depressive Jets fans, just because we're realistic. Patriots level of play has been higher than the Jets since our last match up. People who can't see that need to remove the green and white glasses for a moment. We haven't played a complete game in awhile and if we don't have one next Monday, we won't win. I'm confident in Rex Ryan, I'm confident in Mark Sanchez. I'm also confident that Tom Brady will see open receivers in the middle of the field all night; we need our pass rush to step up big time. I think beating NE twice in one year is doable this season, but I wouldn't be surprised if they torch us either.
everyone remember that brady hasn't thrown a pick in 6 straight games. tom brady hasn't thrown a pick in 6 straight games. continue saying it. over and over and over. why? because every time the announcer says someone hasnt done something in x games, it happens. therefore, from this day forth all week, everyone remember that brady hasn't thrown a pick in 6 straight games. all of tgg >announcer
you simply do not understand the NFL. you are holding your hopes up on a game that was played over 2 months ago - at the beginning of the season when both teams were in preseason mode. yes, you are getting some of your players back but a whole bunch of our young players are much better than they were in september. you are looking at this from a player by player or unit by unit comparison, but that's plain dumb. the jets offensive line does not play against the patriots offensive line, etc. at the end of the day, it will be the best TEAM. the jets have not proven to be a good TEAM since 1968 or whatever. they are a bunch of loudmouths who have achieved nothing. in fact, the most accomplished player on your team is a guy who was suspended the first 4 games - holmes - for pot. the second most accomplished guy is woody who is a washed up ex-pat and won 2 rings because of the pats.
OK, so... What happened in 2009 then? The Jets manhandled the Patriots in Week 2, but then lost the rematch pretty convincingly at Gillette around this same time of year. There's no doubt that every statistical edge goes to NY in this one. It's not even close in terms of defensive rankings. But what you're wrong about is that this is a lot closer to the '01, '03, and '04 teams than you think. In '01 the Patriots were outgained by their opponents throughout the season. If you had looked at everything except their record and points scored/allowed, you would have thought they were an 8-8 team at best. There's a good chance the Jets will shred the Patriots' defense a week from Monday, be it by air or ground or both. It's a really young unit and it'll have ups and downs. But I don't know a Pats fan who doesn't like what they're seeing develop here, especially with all those picks next April. It feels a lot like the old days, but the team is suddenly young again. It'll be close, I think, but playing at home makes a huge difference.
Just so I have this clear. Unit vs. unit comparisons are no good but living on the reputation you earned when your defense was good 5 years ago is fair game. Don't compare old teams. It makes you sound like an idiot. For the most part I find Pats fans more intelligent than Dolphin fans. Don't make me change my mind. I don't give a rat's ass about Superbowl 3, Fish perfect seasons, or your old Lombardi's. Your laundry is better than our laundry. Doesn't mean your team is.
There is no doubt in my mind that both Belichick and Ryan are working their butts off this weekend, while the players rest, trying to come up with the best schemes they have. But I think factors like player intensity and execution will count as much as personnel and game planning. On paper, teams like Detroit, Houston, Cleveland and others should not have been the challenge they were for both the Patriots and Jets but they were. There are going to be a lot of key matchups this game. I think the Jets are certainly going to try and take no prisoners on defense and the Pats will need to match that intensity. The Patriots D is going to need to play well for more then a half.
i see where all you pats fans are comming from. regardless of stats there is no doubt the pats are just simply a much better team. they score consistently and brady is a monster no question. I am not trying to be a darksider but the pats will probably win mostly in the same way they won the steelers game. Pick apart an aggressive D because brady is accurate and can find those small holes. Also i do agree with a previous poster that, although sanchez has put on some late game heroics (and i wont take that away from him) he has generally been mediocre. His accuracy is very inconsistent and the offensive has struggled to move the ball on many defenses good or bad. Ill also put some of that on schotty too. BUT and a big BUTT.....a message to all you pats... The jets are 100% fully and totally not afraid of you anymore. They will give you everything we have and we will fight till the very last second. Dont ever think for one second that the jets are not going to continue to challenge your AFC east supremacy. Are we there yet? no probably not. But there is an unbelievably talented young core on this team probably one of the best young cores in the league. And they will continue to improve. And we will be a challenge for years to come. So yes right now the pats will hold their own but beware pats fans the jets are hear to stay and we will fight you till the very end. so you can go on and maybe win this game and even make a playoff run. but this jets team is standing right behind you and we are running... and were not stopping.
Don't forgot the Pats haven't lost at home in the regular season for 25 straight games. And yes Brady has not thrown a pick in 6 games.
