the Brad Smith TD run was not an offensive play? I don't understand how you try to separate that from the rest of the offense by calling it a "gadget play". Brad Smith is a part of our offense and has been for a while now. And like it or not special teams is a huge part of the game and it happens to be a part of the game we excel at. Can we go back to your game against the Dolphins where you made all those plays on special teams and erase those?? Your logic is completely flawed. Bottom line is this, the Pats have the better offense, but the Jets have the better defense and special teams.
What's your point? You really aren't making any sense. Sanchez had a bad game and the rest of the team picked him up. This team has been doing that all year. That still doesn't mean that he wouldn't have done anything on those drives had the plays you want to remove not happened. Right, now you have Branch instead of Moss and we will have Holmes, Pace, Revis and Pryce. Every team has evolved, no one is saying we'll win this one because we won that one. You sound like a Dolphins fan.
From earlier in this very thread: Lets talk about how awesome that Bengals offense is, or perhaps the juggernaut that is the BUffalo Bills.
SOJF is aiming for "good enough", let's "just try to get the playoffs". SOJF is a loser mentality, it's Herm Edwards saying "the Jets just need to play .500 to make the playoffs from here". Fuck that, these are the days of Rex Ryan. The only goal for the regular season is to lead the league in wins, and the only goal for the entire season is to win the super bowl, nothing less. That's why the Jets are 9-2, that's why nobody on the team gives up and plays until the last 0:00.001. Your long devotion to the team is admirable, but you need to get with t he program. No such thing as "just trying for the playoffs". We want the division title and anything less is a failure.
Not really... We're playing the same team with the same lousy defense. It's no coincidence that the Pats have lost two games this year and one of them was against the Jets. They really don't match up well against the J's, because the J's can limit their scoring while taking advantage of their terrible defense. The Pats are a lopsided team. If you can limit their strength (passing) you can then take advantage of their weakness (defense), and the Jets are one of the teams that can do that.
We all want the same thing but we didn't win the division last year and were unlucky not to go to the championship game. I say it again. Let's get to the dance first; if we stay focused that will happen soon and then we can start planning home field.
Come WSW, he isn't averaging 8 YPC out of the WC/seminole. He ran 53 yds on an end around the other night which impacted his YPC greatly. It hasn't been working in recent weeks for the most part and we do it too much but I believe they are thinking big picture and trying to set up another throw in a big game in January. Revis is back, the D actually got pressure the other night and looked more like the D we should be seeing. The O took a step back the other night but they have shown me enough where I am confident. we have a team that can beat anyone, we should be able to take 2 of 3 against NE, Pitt and Chi- hopefully one of the 2 is against NE.
Prior to that run he was leading the league in YPC for anyone with 20+ carries. The seminole has been effective.
so we're a lousy defense, you are a lousy offense. something's gotta give on monday night. i would call the jets a lopsided team too - no offense but a top 5 defense. jets are not well rounded by any stretch of the imagination. and it's kind of tough to say that the pats don't match up with the jets after only playing 1 of 2 games - wait til monday night. the jets have given up plenty of points against lousy teams over the past month. the saints were a "lopsided team" too last year. it's getting to be more of passing/offense driven league. it's no secret that last year the two best offenses made the super bowl.
It has been effective. Its worked on 3rd downs, which makes me have no problem seeing it at times when I think they shouldn't run it. Its beyond rare for it to be a negative play. It always gets positive yardage.
you can throw game played in the first two months out the window - the real season is Nov/Dec. the pats have won 25 straight regular season games at home for a reason.
I'm looking forward to this game. It will be a good one. Whoever wins this one is likely to be the AFC champion. I grew up as a Jets fan but switched sides when I moved to the Boston area in the late 80s. It wasn't easy to follow an out-of-area team back then like it is now with the internet and cable TV. Here are some of my thoughts. 1. Yes, the Pats defense is not close as good as the Jets but I don't think it's as bad as the 30th ranked defense. I think it's probably somewhere between the middle and the bottom third. Keep in mind that in a number of the games, the Pats would jump out to a significant lead but switch to prevent defense to kill the clock. 2. The Pats have one of the youngest teams in the NFL with so many rookies. 2010 was predicted to be a rebuilding year by the experts. To be 9-2 and challenging the Jets for the division lead is pretty impressive. The Jets were predicted to be AFC champions because of their defense and the improvements they made to the offense. 3. The Pats are among the league leaders in turnover differential. That is a key reason why they have won games. 4. Kudos go to the Jets for hiring Rex as the head coach. He definitely made great improvements to the team and is fun to hear his interviews. Give him credit for signing "malcontents" like Holmes & Tomlinson and giving them new life. I thought those signings would blow up in his face at some point but have been wrong. 5. Revis is amazing. I find myself tending to watch what he does at the line to see how he plays his opponent. I do see him getting away with a lot of excess contact and pass interference because of his reputation. Still, he's earned it without a doubt. 6. The Jets have really good first-stringers but their depth is lacking in my opinion. I think it was the reason why they did not advance to the Super Bowl last year. The injury to the secondary in the AFC Championship game cost them. Both teams have a lot of tough games remaining in their schedule. It should be fun to watch.
Brad in the seminole 2010: Baltimore: 2 carries, 27 yds 1 handoff for 3 yds NE: 0 carries HO 2 yds at Miami: 3 carries, 41 yds at Buf: 1 carry, 2 yds 1 HO 13 yds Min: 2 carries, 4 yds 2 HO's, 4 yds at Denver: 3 carries, 18 yds GB: 3 carries, 12 yds, 1 fumble at Det: 2 carries, 8 yds at Cle: 4 carries, 23 yds Hou: 1 carry, 1 yd 2 HOs, 1 yd Cin: 2 carries, 2 yds totals: 23 carries, 139 yds 7 HOs, 23 yds It's not as effective as you believe. I believe they use it more to set things up and give opposing D's more to prepare for than expecting success out of it. Outside of the Bal and Miami games where he had 5-68 he has 18-71 the rest of the year and that's not very good in a trick play formation.
