I think Wilson has had a few tough games to open the season and just needs his confidence back. It's tough when your the nickle on this team, since the QB will be throwing your way nearly half the time. He'll be fine, just give him some time. He will be an important player for us at some point.
you have to wonder if wilson would be having much better success if he was starting instead of being a nickel corner.
He was in coverage probably about 10 times yesterday, far less than he was in the previous games. Ever since they brought him back after his first few horrendous games, KW has been really good in coverage. He made a few big plays against Detroit I believe and was effective against Cleveland. He will be a really good corner, the guy just needs to play. With all the targets NE has, KW will be on the field a lot.
I think McCourty would be in the exact same situation Wilson is in now if he had been drafted by the Jets. He would probably have had to start in for Revis because of injury/contract dispute, just like Wilson, so we will save the talk for who is better in another thread
there asked to do very different things it's much tougher playing corner in our system. time will tell which will be better.
You guys can have that one for now. Most reasonable people wait 3 years before judging a draft class so I think 10 games is hardly fair to make any final judgment.
kyle wilson is not an every down cornerback - he's ok for playing nickle. belichick knew what he was doing in taking mccourty over wilson. we needed a guy like mccourty to replace asante samuel. the pats simply did not have a number 1 corner for the past few years and now they do. mcourty in fact is contending for DROY.
Your first sentence is retarded. You can have Mccourty being better than Wilson right now. I don't think it will be nearly as clear cut this time next year.
I'm sure McCourty would be an every down CB on the Jets starting over Revis or Cromartie He's playing well, but he's hardly in the same situation as Wilson and he's not being asked to play as much man coverage as Wilson when Wilson is in the game. The comparison is bullshit right now.
