I believe in '04 the 5-0 NYJ played 5-0 NE. That was a big game, unfortunately a loss, and it was pretty early in the season.
But only week 6. This game is essentially going to decide the division. We'd have a 2 game lead with 4 games left 3 of them games a division champ wins. I'm going to say we lose in Pittsburgh but Chicgao, Miami and Buffalo are games any SB team win.
Yep. But I'd like for the Jets to put the Pats away, rather than relying on another team to put them away for the Jets to tie their record and take the division. The Jets have to beat Pitt too.
It would come down to Divisional Records, which they would be both at 3-1, and then conference records, which they would both be at 7-2
It was good to see the Lions get pressure on Brady and for the Jets to look like they had something resembling a pass rush yesterday. I think Sanchez needs to get his head right, he needs to be ready for this, but he tends to step up in big situations, so I'm not worried about that. I can't wait for this game. I feel the same way about this game that I felt about the Ravens game--it could go either way and will go to the team that makes fewer mistakes. Having said that, with Revis back now healthy and if we have ANY pass rush, I think the Jets can put up enough points to beat the Pats. Having said that, no one game plans like the hoody. Even Ryan admitted he's the best coach in football, but it Greene doesn't hand them the ball, we should be able to keep Brady off the field. 10 more sleeps.
True. But the key for the Jets is going to be getting out to a fast start. The Jets have to jump all over the Pats D and get a lead early. If they start slow again I'm not sure how it will go. Oh good. Just what Schotty needs: time to think about what to do. 'Hey, I know! Let's call the plays in Aramaic! That will be fun! Guys? GUYS?! What do you mean you don't want to practice the double TE reverse? That will work for sure this time!"
Branch and Welker will be non factors with Cro and Revis. That leaves Rex 9 guys to mess around with to stop the amazing trio of Woodhead, Gronkowski and Hernandez. Am I really that crazy for thinking he might just come up with plan to stop them by the time the game rolls around? Our offense moved the ball well against them before the offense had any confidence in Sanchez. Somehow I think they will figure out how to put up some points.
We match up real well against the Patriots offense. Their running game won't be able to beat us obviously. I'll take our corners over their recievers. The tight ends can be dangerous, if we stop the tight ends we will win this game. Hernandez had a couple big grabs against us game one and the way we have been defending tight ends lately, he could go off. If we stop Hernandez and Gronkowski the only way we lose is if the offense doesn't perform and we have stupid penalties.
However the hell we managed to finally get some pressure on the QB, the Jets need to do that again this coming week. They are going to have to score over 25 to beat the Pats, no way around that. The Jets are not going to hold them down a lot. Brady's going to get his, especially if he's allowed to bake a cake in the pocket like he has most of the year. The Pats defense is horrible, EXCEPT for the fact that they seem to get timely turnovers. Not allowing those turnovers is the key to the game. The Jets offense can outscore the Pats, but not if they give them a short field. As much as I hate to say it, Brady's hitting on all cylinders. He'll be tough to beat. Best chance is to frustrate him and hurry him.
That was magic at the time and then followed up with the thrashing of 10-0 Tennessee. Really thought the team was heading all the way at that time.
If we win we'll be a game ahead, and will only lose the divison if we end up a game behind ... so in essence its a two game lead with 4 to play ... so the impact of a win is much greater than the impact of a loss. If we win, we put our foot on their throat. If we lose, we can still pick ourselves up and take the Division back in the last four weeks.
This will be really tough. Brady doesn't lose at home. I'm not worried about the long ball in this game. I'm worried about their TEs burning us down the middle. Gronkowski will be a problem if Rex doesn't fix this issue. Their defense doesn't scare me. I'm more concerned that our offense won't show up. If we do win, guarantee you I won't have a voice until next morning. Cant wait!! Lets go J-E-T-S!!!
If the Jets beat NE, lose to Pitt and win all the rest, they will get a bye, and probably the first seed.
Last time the Jets had success overloading the secondary but this is not the same team they kept throwing it to Moss. They will try and take advantage of any one they can. They are very, very inconsistant. They looked very good against Pittsburgh for 3 quarters and then let the Steelers back in. They looked good against the Colts for a half until Manning scored a TD right before the half and the Colts pushed them around until the end. Against Detroit they looked terrible at the beginning and then got better as the game continued. So they are capable of playing well in stretches but there are times that anyone can move the ball against them. I almost expect that the Patriots D will do well in the beginning and then loosen up as the game progresses. The matchup between the Jets D and Patriots offense should be real interesting if only because both sides try so many different schemes during a game. If people want to lock Revis on Welker and Cromartie on Branch, I think the Patriots will come up with something. Maybe Tate is due to have a big game, if he catch the ball.
