That's the biggest difference between facing the Pats now and in any of our other matchups with them since '06 when they got Moss and Welker - we've always had to use Revis on Moss and had a humpty-dumpty corner covering Welker as he killed us (or his stand-in Edelman one game). Now we can finally use Revis on Welker and we still have Cro to keep an eye on Deion Branch.
POLL: O Win against NE, earn a bye week O Lose, watch continuous NY JET football with NO fn interruptions!!!!!!!
We get an early playoff game this year. This game is quite possibly the difference between the #1 and #5 seed for both teams. Tom Brady's gonna get raped.
Way back when a Jet #57 (love ya Mo) gave rise to the to "Tom Brady Era" of Pats football. Now it is time for a new #57 to put an end to the era. I cannot explain why given the way the Pats are playing and the Jets are playing, but I am feeling really good about this game. I think our D will give them fits now that we do not have too waste one of our corners worrying about Moss. I guarantee there will be noone playing like Alphonso Smith for Brady to pick on. I think we harass Brady and make him uncomfortable in the pocket. The Pats D will finally get exposed for what it is. I am not saying a blowout but I really believe that we will win this one without any chest pains.
The Jets need an answer to the TE. If we can stop the Patriots TEs, we can stop the Patriots. Personally, I think we need to let Leonhard roam solo as a safety and keep an extra corner on the field. I'd prefer that corner to be Lowery but whatever it takes. Jets need to get in Brady's face. If they rush him and glance off their oline we'll be in trouble. If he's getting knocked around it'll be a long day for the Patsies. Schotty: time to simplify the offense again. Stop with the shifts and bullshit playcalling. More carries for Shonn Greene. Pound it. Punch them in the face. Make them pay for taking the field against us.
I think the Pats are going to play two TE's for most of the game. To help keep the Jets off of Brady and to help mix the run with the pass better. I'd feel better about the matchup except the Patriot defense always looks like a sieve for at least half the game. The Pats are going to need some big plays by the D because Brady is not going to put up 45 points against the Jets. A big game.
Game of the Year Didn't really know what to call this thread but anyway, I can't remember the Jets having a regular season game that is so important and has so much on the line (Division, Bye, #1 Seed). Besides the win and in games they have had over the past decade or so. I can't think of one game that comes to mind. Maybe the SNF game in Miami in 98 when they clinched a playoff berth. Can anybody think of another time?
the last game of the season in 2002, 2006, and maybe even 2008 but yeah, this game is the only one where at this point, other games around the league dont matter, its all on the table here
If we lose on sunday...enitrely possible Obviously the pats would have a one game lead..but since we would be 1 and 1 against them and both teams would be 3-1 in the division, who would have the tie breaker...if we win however we would essentially have a two game lead and have the division locked up
A win and in game is a regular season game. There is still a lot of football left this season, and I think people are over-hyping the importance of this game. Worst case scenario is that we are 9-3 and a game back in the division with 4 games to go. The "Game of the Year" comes in a few months. Win or lose this week, every goal the team set out for is still attainable, especially the most important one.
Considering this game could very well be worth a regular season win that gives us the division, it's basically also worth a free playoff win, as it is likely to give us a bye in the first round. Pretty tough to match that level of importance........and I'd argue it even trumps the 'win and your in' games, for that reason.
The Thursday Night Football game in Foxboro was pretty big in 2008. We blew it afterwards, but still.
What happens if the Jets win this game, and still wind up at 11-4 with a "win an in" game in week 17. Which game is more important?
Based on what happens in the Steelers game it could keep us in New York for the entire AFC playoffs. Obviously that's not important now but this will have the atmosphere of a playoff game. We win and we essentially have a two game lead in the division with 4 games to go.
