For the second straight week he has actually showed up and had some pressures, I know he is no Clay Mathews jr. but for him this is amazing

Anything is better than nothing. But sad when you think that everyone is excited that halfway through his third season, he got a few pressures.

Gholston is still a lazy shitbag. Regardless, I'm glad he's getting some pressure. Would be nice if Rex were able to turn his dumb ass around.

Getting him on the field is a turnaround in itself for Gholston. Getting pressures is a giant leap in progress.

He had a fantastic game, me and Murrell mentioned it last night in the game thread. He's actually contributing now!

Both of his pressures seemed to come up the middle. Too bad there is no room at ILB for him to play but perhaps he should get some looks there.

In the game thread, I thought Gholston should have gotten more snaps. He was playing really well imo. For 3-4 DL's, it's not all about sacks, it's about getting pressure and holding up against the run, which he was doing.

He had a pretty good game. He came at Palmer unblocked on one play though. I wonder why he wasnt in the game when we were obviously going to win.

Assuming he finishes the season strong, do you take a gamble and sign him at league minimum next year while Rex teaches him how to play DE? On one hand, I absolutely hate his guts for setting the team back so many years, but when I see a young, powerful guy get pressure like that on a team with no pass rush threat, it makes me think of the "what if's" of holding on to him.

If you can get him that cheap and he's coachable I'd say so. I wonder if Rex is just pumping him up to help Tanny and the organization save face on a terrible draft pick and will just let him go quietly?

His best play was on a 2nd and 3 I think in 3rd qtr , he set the edge and forced benson in inside for a loss. Its baby steps but he is showing signs of being a serviceable 3-4 DE

He was on the field a lot more last night than in recent weeks. He will never live up to being the 6th pick but I think he is slowly defining his role on the team. I see him being like Dwayne Robertson for the Jets. The fans will always hate him for not being a stud but he will stick around for awhile.

He won't want to stay. The guy plays out of position here. He will be a good player when we can play be a 4/3 DE. He is kind of like Hugh Douglas. Douglas was great in a 4/3 but was marginal in a 3/4. Put him in a 4/3 and he will flourish.

Watch him end up with the Giants and become a perennial pro bowler.

I know this is sarcasm but I will bet my left nut the only way he makes it to the pro bowl in Hawaii is if he sells Mauna Loa Macadamia nuts.

That's my greatest fear with this kid. As bad as he's been you just get the feeling that somewhere there is this untapped potential waiting to be unleashed and it would be just our luck to see him go to Miami or New England and turn into a sack machine.

That being said, I can't in my wildest dreams see this happening. He has no pass rush moves and absolutely zero motor. I would be shocked if he were to ever revive his career.

Say what you will about Gholston, but how the hell do you figure he set the team back "so many years"?
