Boy did we make hard work of these last few weeks, the "soft" part of our schedule. Lets not get ahead of ourselves, "win the division, win home field"- forget it- getting to the play-off's is our goal and I think we will have to step up if we want to achieve that. I don't see any easy games on our radar over the next few weeks and I include the improving Bills. Divisional games are always tough and the fins will want to screw us up too. This game with the Pats is huge but it won't decide our fate, staying focused is key and if we're honest this Jet team right now is a real Johnny Nash- "more questions than answers". Long road ahead, lets hope we are going to come in to form right about PO time like last year.
The good news is that at the very least the Jets will get a wildcard. But fuck that, I want the division. The Jets dodged the traditional "trap game" and came out with 4 come from behind wins. They play their division opponents very well and play on the road extremely well, which means that the Pats, Pitt, and Miami games are all very winnable. I know the team has a lot of areas they can get better at, but no one find a way to win better than this team this season. They're a cockroach with AIDS. Hard to kill, but they'll kill you slowly.
I was gonna say that the Jets are a much better road team than home team and I look for them to really give NE the game of their lives in 10 days. That being said, perhaps we can just stop throwaway plays like the Seminole as they absolutely never work without some variation like perhaps an occasional pass by Smith. I really think Rex is doing a much better job of keeping the team focused during the softer part of our schedule. I don't think anyone can argue that this team would have lost alot of the close games we played so far if it were last season. Rex2.0 is a better version but still a work in progress. I think we'll be ready for the Steelers and Patriots but the Bear D and their pass rush in particular, gives me some agita.
"Soft" my backside. Also, you consider Cleveland and the Stafford-led Lions 'soft', but not Thigpen's Dolphins?
Because that's what it's called. We had this discussion before. One of the Jets coaches was a Florida St. guy, and they still call it that.
Because that's what it says in the announcers media guide and they keep referring to it. Rex Ryan calls it the wildcat.
oh really? I was unaware of that.....I thought the name was in reference to Leon running that package.
The perception was that this past slate was the easier part of our schedule. And yes Thigpen is a pretty savy QB who already gave us a scare when he was in KC. If you don't think the fins are going to bring their best to our house in couple of weeks to try and fuck us up you don't know the AFC East.
There is no "soft" schedule anymore. Just ask teams like the Saints that lost to the Browns, or the Pats struggling for three quarters against the Lions.
Exactly. Do we need to bring out the "parity wheel" again? There are no easy games in the NFL. I would also point out that the Patriots play the same exact teams the Jets do the rest of the way, with the substitution of the Packers for the Steelers (which is clearly a wash), so this thread could just as easily be celebrating how they're done with the "soft" part of their schedule.
