Holy Crap- I'm not doing the breakdown again but we aren't getting killed by TE's, 3 games we have. The same way we did the first time we freakin played them. The same way the freaking Browns did. Stop worrying about how we'll stop them, the question is how will they stop us.
Heh! Point taken. I was referring to myself, actually, ftr, not the Jets. I very much like to take the season one game at a time. I fear trap games. I don't want to focus on opponents down the road, only to see my team get tripped up on the way there. It's personal, not that I think what we do here affects the Jet players themselves. But yours was a good post.
But you do know with everyone marking this a W now and already looking at the Pats, if we lose tomorrow the vaginas around here will be bloodier than usual. Heard it here first.
This is true. If they lose tomorrow I will be so pissed that telling all the doom and gloomers that they are dumb will be a good way to blow off steam.
Don't think Bellicheat isn't making sure there are packages where he tries to get Woodhead to embrass us.
Pretty sure that isn't his goal. What the Pats do do a lot of is 2 TEs, 2 WR with woodhead at RB and then audible to the run if the defense is light in the box. If the Jets play a nickel or especially a dime against the 2 TE formations you'll see a lot of plays to Woodhead.
I hope Harris picks him up and throws him into the stands. Or tosses him 30 yards into the EZ for a safety.
I'd expect the Patriots to play this more like the Steelers game (75/25 in terms of pass/run) than the Colts game (more 50/50ish). They're not going to waste time and downs running it at the Jets' front. They'll spread it out and make lots of short, quick throws. The offense isn't what you guys saw in week two. Not saying it's better, but it's more versatile. In the second half of that game, the Jets completely took Moss away, and the offense sputtered badly as a result. Brady's been better about distributing the ball to different guys since they got rid of Moss and doesn't get as locked in on one guy. Defensively, the Patriots are better than they look on paper and statistically. They give up a lot of yards, but the defense is predicated on not giving up big plays and making offenses execute for longer drives. They're tough in the red zone (lower TD percentage than the Jets, actually) and they're up there in the league in terms of +/- takeaways. And for the most part - 250 pound fullbacks named Hillis notwithstanding - they've been fairly good against the run. My guess is that they're going to gameplan to make Sanchez win it or lose it. The Jets want a physical game, so I'm thinking they run the crap out of the ball regardless. Battle of wills kind of thing. Should be a good one. Good luck tomorrow night. It'd be nice to see both teams go into the 12/5 Monday nighter at 9-2.
As far as Rex is concerned "Who give's a rat's ass? We're not apologizing to nobody. We'll bet back in there and we'll fix it!" Show us, Rex, and before we run the season-ending guantlet!
That plan hasn't worked out too well lately. I like our chances if that's the case. Having a 9-2 vs. 9-2 game against the Pats will be great, the bad thing is the loser could take the #5 seed with a 13-3 record. HUGE game.
We are not going to stop their tight ends, but if we manage to keep New England below 24 points we should win.
HAHAHA- Did anyone here watch the fist game? All of a sudden these 2 rookie TE's are unstoppable? C'mon guys, grow a sack. We have much more talent then the Browns and they did the same. Colts did too, Tom only had 186 yards passing 33 yards were to TE's. WE HELD THEM TO 14 POINTS.
