uhhh...Harris has EARNED the right to be taken care of first this offseason.....the guy is a team player...and didn't make a stink in the wake of Mangold, Brick and Revis's contract earlier in the season.
I agree about Harris...The importance and loss of Vilma was devastating to point that if we lose Harris too it would be a crime
It seems like Edwards would take a discount to play here, while Holmes is looking to get paid after the season. I hope I'm wrong and I'd love to keep them both, but I think Holmes will demand a big contract, especially with the way he's been playing recently.
He's probably basing that on Edwards saying he wants to be a Jet for a long time. But I don't think the one necessarily means the other. I hope Edwards would be willing to take a discount but I don't see any evidence.
Holmes has his ring, so cash is a bit moe important. Braylon, while he won't sign for a shitty contract, will probably take a paycut to win a Super Bowl(that's if we don't win this year:metal. Its just speculation though
Keep in mind the Tanny Factor. And I'm not talking about "one ring to sign them all" but... last season nobody had Santonio on their minds, or Cro; and somehow they're here now. We know that we need to have key players in these positions, and I'm confident that we'll have them... it's only that maybe it won't be the same ones we have now. If we can't keep the 4 we already have, I'm sure Tanny will sign 4 great players in those positions.
....No one knew they were available. If Andre Johnson can be had for a 5th rounder next May, we aren't going to know until the deal is finished.
That's the point, we don't know the cap rules for next season, we don't know who will be available... I just think we'll end up with the positions well covered.
If they're really serious about keeping all four I wouldn't be surprised if they ask Mark to re-structure his deal. He's obviously not going anywhere and he'd probably do it if it meant he could keep all his toys.
I voted for Edwards over Holmes but i see it as a damn near tie. Pretty much the deciding factor for me is I assume Holmes will cost far more than Edwards to keep.
Santonio has been clutch in game winning situations, but Braylon seems to carry more of the workload through the game.
From watching games I think Holmes has more to offer. He's quicker, faster, has better hands, and runs slant routes well. Correct me if i'm wrong but Edwards is mostly deep vertical.
I've been saying this all along. Its not a shock, and it shouldn't be to anyone. Stop being a fan for 5 seconds, put on your big boy pants, and a make a business decision - Braylon or Holmes. Its Holmes every time.
Re-sign Edwards & Holmes. Trade Cotchery for a third. Draft slot WR (and re-sign Stuckey). 1, 2, 3... go!
