With Woody injured and his status still questionable against the Bengals, is it worth trying Ducasse at right tackle? Hunter had a poor game at RT after woody went down, albeit against Mario Williams. Maybe throwing big Vlad in here and there is worth a shot against the struggling bengals? I know Woody said he's going to play Thursday night and Hunter is a very capable back up but as many here suspect Vlad is probably being groomed as his replacement. Don't have to start him or feature him throughout the game but I think it'll be worthwhile to see if and how he's progressed in a different role. Note: Presuming he won't get Sanchez killed. Just a thought
Sure, the guy who actually made the active roster struggled so clearly the solution would be to put in the guy who has been inactive for every game up until this point. Certainly, no experience is exactly what we need protecting Sanchez right now.
i don't know how we could even have an opinion on this. callahan is one of the top OL coaches in the NFL. He's been working w/Vlad and Wayne Hunter all season. I think we have to trust Callahan to make the right call if Woody needs to sit this one out. I would like to see Vlad get the shot, but if he's not quite ready, so be it.
Rex will rave about anyone to give them confidence, Hunter was beat all game but it was understandable going against Williams.
It would make one think that putting in a TE to help block every now and then might have helped against an elite pass rusher like Williams.
as a rookie playing a pos he never played before he was a tackle in college. we knew he was a project when we took him.
Thank you Dr. Freud. I doubt what Rex says at a presser is going to somehow give Wayne Hunter confidence. If Wood can't go it maybe time to bring in Vlad.
Might wanna rotate the rookie in for some plays just to get him some experience but only if it looks like the Jets handling things pretty easy.
You think Rex actually believes all the nonsense he spews in PCs? Please tell me you are kidding? He always talks up his players. I get it that we are all Jet fans but do we all have to believe everything the Jets tell us? Do we really lack the intelligence to think on our own? Anyone who watched Vlad almost get our QBs killed each preseason game should understand he certainly wasn't ready to begin the season and if he was ready now it would have been him that went into the game last week not Wayne Hunter.
I meant to post about this but forgot about it. Ducasse actually came in at RT during garbage time of the Buffalo game.I watched him closely and he looked alot more comfortable and was impressive in both drive blocking and pass protection. W/ Slauson looking above average at left guard, and Moore embedded on the Right, Ducasse's future maybe replacing Woody at RT a year or two from now. W/ that said...I don't think throwing him in the fire this season is a good idea.
bad idea, Duccasse needs another year under his belt, he's raw, I think next year we'll be pretty happy we drafted this beast.
I think that is why they drafted him. I think the plan was to work him in at guard this year to replace faneca then slide him over to RT when Woody was done.
