Wayne Hunter was blocking the most physically gifted defensive end in the NFL. Cut him some slack. A week of practice with the starters will do wonders.
No, the week of practice will do shit. He's a mediocre player at best. There's a reason he has two career starts in seven years.
I would never trust someone diagnosing his own injury, but everything Woody's been saying has been positive.
Not that you want any injuries to your Oline but I'd be more comfortable with Hunter playing for Slauson rather than playing for Woody. Not only does Woody play tackle but he's an integral veteran presence on the line. Any extended injury wouldn't be good. Hunter's a capable backup, and has a definite edge, but he's a depth guy, not a guy you want as a starter.
Rex won't have his team practice as much, it'll be more of a mental preparation, lots of studying as Rex said in his presser
He'll be prepared for a middling pass rush on the weakside. But there better be some help. Chip someone on the edge. Give him help. Putting a backup RT one on one with an elite pass rusher is retarded.
Odom is suspended still, right? Edit: Looks like it's over after the Bills game, but he might be limited by a wrist injury. There are activating him, though. He's not a bad pass rusher at all.
This is when we could've really used Vladdy Ducasse. His transition to the NFL hasn't been swift unfortunately.
3 days of practice ? I cant see them having very physical practices at all on monday or wednesday. They only have 3 days of rest coming off of a game that literally went down to the wire, id expect the majority of preparation to be film.
I read somewhere (can't remember of course) it's an MCL sprain. Probably out against CIN and questionable week 13. I'll try and find the article.
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5835274 that was before the mri though Jets RT Damien Woody has been diagnosed with an MCL injury, though the extent is unclear. The injury is to Woody's right knee. According to Pro Football Focus, Woody has been the second best right tackle in football this season, behind only Giants RT Kareem McKenzie. According to the NY Daily News, Woody is "not ruling himself out" for Thursday night's game against the Bengals.
Apparently he's trying to get ready to play on Thursday. I'm hoping that he takes the week off to rehab & make sure he is good to go the rest of the way. Wayne Hunter is a good backup.
