keep in mind that about 5-7 of sanchez's short passes to LT are actually running plays...

What's being overlooked is that teams have dared Sanchez to beat them by selling out against the run. Now that Sanchez is actually beating them thru the air, this will force them to respect our air attack and that will open up the middle again for SG and LT. We'll have to bury a few teams thru the air first and as long as Sanchez is racking up huge yardage every game, it will happen sooner than later.

As long as we keep putting up points I don't care what the run-pass ratios are. We're averaging 28.6 ppg in our wins.

When the opposing team stacks the box, we are not a good running team.

Opposing teams are stacking the box a lot, even when the passing game is effective. Shottenjunior needs to be better at making those adjustments.

Okay, that's twice in one day. Were is a word. the plural form of the past tense (indicative mood) of be and the singular form used with you. As in "if Santonio were to get caught with weed again, we would have to step up our running game.."

We're is a contraction of We are. As in "We're the best running team on the planet"

We are a good running team. We could be better and we are getting closer to being better. I think we should be able to mix the run/pass effectively against the Gals. I think its a week to week thing depending somewhat on the D we are facing.

We haven't run the ball particularly well in awhile. We're top five in rushing because of a)Dominant early season rushing performances and b)The sheer quantity of rushing attempts accrued over the last few weeks.

Look at our RBs' numbers since the Dolphin game:

    Tomlinson:

    DEN: 16 carries 55 yards 3.4 YPC
    GB: 16/54/3.4
    DET: 15/55/3.7
    CLE: 18/57/3.2
    HOU: 12/36/3.0

    Greene:

    DEN: 9/43/4.8
    GB: 6/22/3.7
    DET: 10/46/4.6
    CLE: 20/72/3.6
    HOU: 15/42/3.8

That's an average of 25-30 carries a game so even only averaging 3.5 ypc or so you're gonna get around over 100 yards a game from your RBs. Throw in the odd Brad Smith end around and random Sanchez scramble, and you're up to 130 yards rushing despite not running the ball particularly well at all.

The o-line lately seems to be a problem. We simply aren't creating huge holes. Tomlinson long run since the Denver game is 12 (he had a 20 yard run in the Denver game), while Greene's long is 12 since the Miami game. That's pretty bad. The fact that these performances have come against some of the league's worst run defenses is further cause for concern.

I'd also caution against pumping up the passing game too much based on the Texan game and some of the other weak defenses we've faced before. I know I got tired of other team's running games being pumped up during the Cotrell years when they ran all over us. Sanchez has definitely been encouraging, but if this team is going to go far we're going to need the run the ball, and run it well.

Good stuff Gil. I think those stats reflect the fact that we are winning but not playing great football yet. I agree that we need to be able to run the ball. But if the D is stacking the box like GB did to us, then Schotty & Sanchez will have to be able to punish the D and pick them apart. We were unable to do it to GB and I would think other teams will continue to focus on stopping our ground game.

I do think teams are using the GB blueprint to stop the offense.

But Sanchez has been doing well enough to not let it stop the offense from producing.

I get it. It was a trick question. He meant to say "(we) were not a running team (before, but now we are)."

one thing is for sure, opponents have been exploiting our weakness for a few weeks, but we still win. I am fairly certain Ryan and company do a very poor job in making adjustments, Ryan is stubborn the coaching staff is no where near as capable in making adjustment like the pats, so it takes us some time to figure things out.

Our rushing attack has been mediocre for the past 2 weeks and we still found a way to win, Sanchez's emergence is going to result in teams playing us differently, rushing attack will improve in december, if Sanchez continues to play this way, we will be the most solid all around team in the NFL and nobody can stop us. What is Bellicheat going to do this time, what can he do differently, answer is nothing, it is evident what our weakness is, stop the run, ok great, but sanchez will light you up and it is clear that he is improving on a weekly basis and with Bellicheats DB's, we will light his ass up.

How can a team rated 18th overall in passing be considered a passing team?

Rex realizes now that we can do both as seen in his latest press conference.

Rex stated if you want to stack the box, okay fine, we'll just pass. I think the CS gets it.

I would love to see more designed screens to LT, and more rollouts for Sanchez. We just have to block for him.
