We may say that we are and it maybe a big part of our playbook but week after week, we're becoming more of a passing team, we really need to keep Braylon and Santonio after this season
I think if the line gets healthy with Slauson showing some more improvement, and opponents worry more (as they should) about Holmes and Edwards, the running game will look better.
Well we have run for over a 100 yards EVERY SINGLE GAME...and average 145 yards a game. We are the 4th best run team in the NFL. Teams ahead of us? Eagles, thanks to Vick. Raiders, thanks to their horrendous pass offense. And Chiefs, a run heavy team like we used to be last year.
Balance, balance, balance. As long as teams load up the box and leave the passing game open, the Jets will pass. When they play more off the ball, it will open up the run. It's a good problem to have.
I don't want to run though as much. Our passing is improving every week. I guess it will depend on the team.
you jsut don't notice it because neither Greene nor LT has been dominant, but the overall numbers are pretty good between the two of them.
Well our offense is working. If we had last year's offense right now, we' be losing. You need a pretty good defence to support a run heavy game like that.
We have A LOT more balance than last year. Just because we've been throwing successfully doesn't mean we aren't a run-oriented team. We can still run, we still will run, but can kill you through the air this year as well.
We are a good running team. Just not a run or lose team like last year. Better balance. Better offense. Better team. I remember some coach saying even if you aren't successful running the ball you have to try in order to keep the other team honest. And we are successful at it. Both LT and Greene have had many runs where they were one tackle away from breaking long runs. They will start coming...
^^^^^^^^ Yes, better balanced. I thought we would be in the beginning of the season anyway with the addition of Santonio and the expectation of getting Dustin more involved. We still need to establish a running game, every game.
Last year I thought our rushing numbers were inflated based on 2 or 3 huge performances, like against the Bills and Cincy week 17. If we get 1 or 2 of them the rest of the year we can easily finish #1 in rushing again. The Bengals D is atrocious right now, we can run on the Fins, and we do have a Bills game week 17. The final numbers will be up there. Pitt is incredibly hard to run against, NE will be geared up to stop the run, and Chicago has been very good.. but we'll see what we are made of in those games. The Pats have allowed some big rushing games this year.
