I thought the same thing! It was almost like the people running the video boards were like "see what these people had to watch on an over-sized tv outside the stadium instead of watching it live? ... don't leave early" haha
Section 149, Row 20; opposite end from Holmes's game winner. Stayed for the whole game followed by 1 1/2 hours in the parking lot afterwards. Lots of people cleared out at Sanchez's pick but not enough to make it worth trying to move up. If I pay to go to the game, I never leave, don't understand those who do and usually give them crap as they walk up the aisle. If they are in such a rush to get out of the stadium, they must not be doing a post game tailgate which means they are hoping in the car and sitting in line while I'm watching the end of the game.
I don't see what is gained by leaving with 1:00 left. How much of a jump on what do you think you're going to get? I'll admit I thought a comeback wasn't likely but it was still possible, what's the point of getting in the crowd a minute early and missing it?
That was great!!! It was friggin amazing!!! After the Monday night Miracle, my father and I learned to never leave a game no matter what. We stayed for that game but it just solidified our belief of, You never know. The icing on the cake yesterday was some asshole Texan fan wearing a Williams jersey kept standing up and just holding 1 hand up. he was about 10 rows behind me but he was berated after all the celebrating. Good Times, I feel like we popped the NMS cherry.
i dont think a lot of you guys who arent regulars at the stadium get it. when sanchez threw that late pick, and we were in the process of blowing a 23-10 lead, that stadium was the most miserable place in america. like awful. suicidal. cursing the D. f this f that. just terrible. then take into consideration that the traffic getting out of that place is some of the worst in all of america. when a game is about to end that way there is only one thing you wanna do and thats get away from that god forsaken place, get back to your car, crack a beer, and complain about everything and make retarded statements about firing this one and how this clown played like crap etc. etc. because the only thing more miserable than the conclusion of the game, is the reflection period afterward when you are in traffic. another thing you guys dont really know much about. so im totally with pats-hater on this. i have been a season ticket holder since 1998. during that span i have missed maybe 5 or 6 games. you guys who never go really dont get it. and dont sit here and be like , "oh i have been to a few games, i just dont like it" thats fine but then you dont have the right to tell us who do go week in week out what we should do there. try sitting there week in and week out when we are staring at a top 5 pick and the place is half full all game long. hes right, you guys really dont get it. its a different feeling. especially if you have that many games under your belt and the whole "wow im at a football game this is crazy" luster wears off. and fwiw, i was in the process of leaving, paused at the concourse to look at the tv, saw us cross midfield, and ran back down to my seat at a billion miles an hour to see them finish the job, and thank god they did. the last time the place was like that was the ellis TD against the bills in 08. and whoever made the corporate account statement, yeah this is obama america with a piss poor economy. there is A LOT less of that going on now than ever before.
I've had my tickets since the mid 80's and I never leave early. We were there yesterday, just like every game, until every player leaves the field.
As a west coaster I had to watch the game on a horrible internet stream. I would give my left nut to watch games live. Anyone that leaves early can choke on a ****, seriously. Go up a few posts and watch the last 30 second again. Lots of real fans in that clip (kudos), in embarassingly empty sections.
listen thats awesome, and obviously i dont know where you live but for some, that ride back is damn long especially with traffic. until i moved to jersey a few months ago it would be a minimum of 3 hours to get home after a game. pats hater is all the way in MA so i cant even imagine how awful that ride is after a game. all im saying is there are definitely times where its ok to walk out of that place before the final whistle and, up until this season, blowing a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter was on the list, especially with the miserable travel conditions some have to deal with because of the stadium.
you live in vegas. there is ZERO pro sports there. you dont know dick about a gameday experience. you have litterally no reason to be in this discussion. also theres a sportsbook every ten feet out there. go watch the damn game at one of those or a bar and stop watching it on the internet like a lonely asshat.
I'm close by in Bergen county, so the ride home isnt an issue for me. I'm just saying that we never leave, no matter what. I'm the same way with my NY Rangers tix... I'm there for the duration, regardless. I've seen a lot of bad football/hockey over the years, but I always stay to the end... I go to see the full 60 minutes...
Not all of us feel like hitting a casino at 10 in the morning. That said... Every single time the Jets play in SD I am there. And no, I don't leave early. Try getting on a train, in the rain, with 20K chargers fans wearing a Pennington jersey. Good times.
on the big boards they showed the folks watching the game outside the Stadium on the pylon boards celebrating the win. It was pretty funny.
As someone who used to have season tickets, yeah I would prefer fans did not leave early. But the reality is it is so hard to get out of the Meadowlands. Particularly if you want to get onto 95 heading to the GWB. If the exits were better designed and the road capacity better i really think it would be less of a problem. And don't tell me "stick around and tailgate until the traffic clears." It could be midnight before the GWB is clear, and what are you going to do, sit there drinking while you wait? I had a buddy get a severe DWI once doing exactly that.
I may have not been there this week, but I know one thing, I didn't leave the bar till the game was over!
and that is not very often. if you read my original post on this you would see that its different when you are there week in week out for years. even though we all love this team, the frustration of the meadowlands can make even the biggest fans, for a myriad of reasons, say, "fuck this im out" whether its ice cold rain (you ever been to a game in early december where its 36 degrees, 15-20 mph winds, and driving rain? becuase that happens. like once a year), commute (when the yanks are playing as well as the jets, and you wanna get back up north, its hell. pure and simple. you crawl until you get to westchester), or the frustration of watching them shit the bed in a game they should have won easily (think the herm/mangini years. or the 80s. or the early 90's. basically the SOJ time period minus the parcells years. those moments, in person, are so damn awful you have no idea. its way worse to witness than them just getting beat up.). we all try not to, but between awful conditions and frustration, it happens and you really cant blame people for doing it. and those who didnt yesterday got to see something great, so the ones that did leave have to deal with that.
Another thing is that if the Jets lost yesterday, as they clearly almost succeeded in doing, they would have been 2-3 at home while being 5-0 on the road. Take that, paying fans. It would have just added to the frustration. It was frustrating enough watching the game in my house.
exactly. we all might have not only left, but burnt that 1.6 billion dollar dickhead stadium to the ground.
My wife wanted to head out and grab lunch after the game. When Sanchez threw the pick, I put the kids in the stroller and said "if they score a TD, we can go.". We stood there like that in the living room for the rest of the game. Best tasting lunch I've had in a while after that.
