NO GIANT FAN thought they were a Super Bowl teama few years ago - When Eli threw like 7 picks Vs Minnesota, I told my Giant fan friends to relax and that as long as they stayed healthy the path was there and in the playoffs anything can happen...

NO PATS FAN thought the Pats were a Super Bowl team in 2001 - The biggest Pats fan I knew wanted to fire bellichik and thought he was clueless in about week4 (IMAGINE THAT!!!!!!!!)

These wins remind me of that 2001 Pats team and even though I've been cautiously optomistic about Sanchez from the start and not always 100% ALL IN. Damn, he's making some huge plays and coming up big.... Dare I say he looks like Brady of that year!!!!!!

Like I told Giants fans - You take 1 week at a time, STAY HEALTHY and continue to fix the problems and grow, then anything can happen....

Is this a Super Bowl Team?

At this point We're IN IT... And that's about all you can hope for.

    So... YES!

The D is a big concern of mine. To let the last 3 teams score like they did is a killer.

    Agreed.

We're winning games that should be won by the 3rd quarter. We will not win these types of games against teams with winning records.

Our defense sucks this year, Revis is nowhere near the player he was last season and now he's getting paid more money.

I hope we get out of this "last minute win" funk and start winning games the way we should. In two weeks, we play NE and we won't be winning with this team.

Too many people have this inaccurate standard of what a Superbowl team looks like, as if it's some dominating, win by 30 every game or bust scenario.

Look at the last decade of Superbowl teams. The '01 Pats, '05 Steelers, the '06 Colts. the '08 Cardinals, and on and on.

Those seasons are filled with ugly, gritty wins, and getting hot when it mattered.

I'm not saying we are one or we aren't, just pointing out that most of those guys didn't look like world-beaters in week 11 either.

That's a bit much considering that no one has physically dominated us over a whole game. Concerned about the pass rush and crunch time breakdowns? Sure. But it's not like we've suddenly become the 09 Giants..

  6. Too many things change in the course of a season. We've seen so many teams have drastic changes from month to month in terms of unit's success and failure. Look at the Colts during their SB season. Their run was atrocious throughout the regular season..but come playoff time nobody could run on them. If you have the talent(which we do) and the coaching(which we do) you can get things turned out fairly quickly come playoff time. Their has not been much consistency w/ any defense across the entire NFL this season. Case and point that this Jets D is still statsically top 5!

Let's keep racking up the wins..secure homefield and worry about the issues on a week to week basis. One thing is for sure...all these close wins are invaluable experience when january hits..

not now but its only week 11 and the problems can be fixed

    they have zero pass rush
    the blitzes dont work
the running attack has slowed considerably
the defense doesnt stop anyone on 3rd down

but like i said those can be fixed

So this team that beat the Pats already without Pace, Revis, Pool, and Holmes won't win??

What is with Jet fans? We have the best record in the league, and are in first place, any other fans would be happy to be where we are.

Our TEAM is winning, there is no rule that says you must have the best defense in the league to win.

Pick any random year, say 2003. The Cowboys had the leagues number 1 defense and were knocked out in the first round by Carolina.

Bottom line is we are winning. I like the fact that our offense has been bailing us out, just shows we are a more complete team.

This is the case. We will have a much better idea where we stand in two weeks.

A statement against the Bungles does nothing. A win over the pasts says alot more.

I think they're setting up the argument that the Jets are due for a 1-3 run for weeks 13-16.

Oh yeah.... The best part about the way we are winning is that I have more confidence in Ryan fixing this...

If the Defense was lights out and the offense couldn't get out of it's own way we would be looking at possible short and long term QB issues, Play calling and maybe OL issues which all together aren't an easy fix, if the Qb doesn't have "It" there's not a lot you can do...

But, IMO RYAN is embarrassed by his defense and THAT IS GOOD!!!!!!

But, i disagree about close win colming back to bite you - I've seen too many teams "Luck" their way all the way to a Ring... The 2001 Pats taught everyone a lesson about today's NFL.

we're 8-2, that's a position as a fan that I certainly like............get me into the playoffs with a potential bye and at least one home playoff game and I like our chances. People are too damn critical mainly due to expectations set out at the beginning of the year.........would anyone have thought the Jets were going to be in the AFC Championship last year after 10 games? If the Jets keep getting opportunities to fix things while stilll winning......that's a good thing. I think the play calling on both sides of the ball needs tweaking more than anything else.

And the fact that Sanchez is looking like Joe Montana in crunch time can no longer be ignored.

This is a kid that is what, maybe 40 starts from being a high school player?

25 games into the NFL, and he's doing it often enough that you can't call it luck.

OMG! This is such a fucking stupid thread. How the fuck can fans complain when the Jets are winning. SAME OLD JETS FA...... oh, we're not all jumping down his throat with mindless insults because he is taking a critical look at the team and expressing realistic and legitimate concerns? Shit. Sorry. My Gang Green clique memo must have gotten lost in cyberspace.

Anyway, I'm glad you started this Koz so that we can actually have a discussion about the weaknesses of the team and the team's ability to really do waht we ALL as Jets fans want to see. WIN! I agree with you on Keller, our safties and the complete lack of a pass rush. And quite honestly, I've come to expect opposing QBs to rip apart our D with minutes to go in the 4th now. I'm almost numb to it happening.

I still believe this team does have what it takes. But we may stilll see some miracle last minute wins like this in the playoffs.

great teams find a way to win. any team that can pull out the close ones on a regular basis, no matter who the opponent is, is a super bowl caliber team.

when your qb can go down the field in 45 seconds with no timeouts and win you the game, you are a super bowl caliber team.

there are definite issues, the main one, to me, is the pass rush problem. but this is something that can be fixed . its not like the talent isnt there. coaching can fix this.

overall, with the way this season has played out so far, i would say the jets have no less of a chance than the steelers, pats, falcons, and packers of winning the big one.

Very true. But there are still concerns. The Jets are in a soft part of the schedule and they are not dominating weaker teams. The lions, browns, and texans have not won 10 games all year ... collectively. Combined record is 9-21. If the Jets struggle against the 2-8 bengals this week then there should be reasons for major concern!

All in all, 8-2 is a great record!

The defense gave up 20 points in the fourth quarter yesterday. If they can play an entire 60 min of football they could go all the way. The offense looked good yesterday. They cannot blow leads in the fourth quarter, that kind of momentum shift could spell disaster in the playoffs.
This logic never works. The browns creamed the pats and the saints, the pats beat the steelers. The steelers beat the browns. That would make the browns better than pats and saints but the steelers better than the teams that have already beat them. Boy that can get confusing.

If we are getting shit for beating the Browns then what the fuck are the Pats?

The day I become un-biased is the day I stop watching sports. There are hundreds of so called experts to be un-biased. My job is to get drunk and root for the team. You are what your record says you are.
