Die hard fan for many years and I don't want to be "Debbie Downer" coming off a win, but the last 3 games have certainly been cause for reflection.

Some things to consider as we've gone past the midpoint of this season.

    1) Pash rush is non-existent.
    2) Still committing terrible penalties- way too many in each game. Robert Turner-are you listening?
    3) Running game is no great cause for concern for our opponents. Our RB's are having more success catching and running than they are finding openings to explode through. Of course, you need to recognize that with yesterday in particular, once Woody went down we lost alot of our surge, but it wasn't like we had established any running game before that point either.
    4) Outside of Cro and Revis, our secondary is playing pretty poorly. Pool and Leonard aren't scaring anyone.
    5) TE's is a non-factor position at this point. Where's the chemistry Sanchez had with Keller. The two of them look terrible as of late- timing is way off.
    6) Some very questionable throws by Sanchez into double-coverage where he's better off just throwing the ball away. We're quite lucky that opposing D's weren't more aware or in a better position to reel in the INT.

Those are the biggest things that jump out at me to date. Believe me, I know that our wins to date haven't been "all luck," as the reporters and opposing fans have liked to say. It's just that when you consider our level of play thus far, our "O" still needs to ratchet things up a few notches to the point where we're considered "explosive" running and passing, and our D needs to be able to close out games, especially in the fourth quarter.

Curious as to what you guys think. When you think "Super Bowl" 2011, do you think that this team can win it all based upon their overall level of play thus far?

I think the playoffs will be wide open in both conferences this year. So, yea, any playoff team could make a run and win it all. If they get into the playoffs they have as good a shot as anyone, and if they get into a close game in the playoffs they probably have more experience than anyone in winning them.

One other thing- stop with the "Airplane Celebration." It's cute when your 3-year old son is doing it, while making "airplane noises" in the process. It's another thing when grown men are doing it on national TV. Chest bump, high five, even that freaking dance that Edwards would break out from time to time. Airplane- ugh....

That being said, I love this team.

We haven't exactly been playing the cream of the crop these past 3 weeks, and have needed heroics each time to win. We don't want that clock to strike midnight going into the playoffs. Guys like Brady & Manning will make you pay dearly for mental mistakes.

That being said, this team has the talent to not just be good - but dominant. If they ever get out of their own way, look out NFL.

I love it actually. It makes us look like idiots.

With as many totally legitimate concerns this team has, and I agree with all of those listed, maybe that's exactly what we need.

A bunch of idiots. Like the '04 Sox. Too dumb to know how to lose.

It's strange that the team we beat most convincingly is the team we're fighting it out for in the division. Then yesterday that team beat the Colts, who we are likely to need to get past in the Playoffs to get to the big show. So if we can beat the Pats, and the Pats can beat the Colts, then the Jets must be better than both of them. Doesn't seem that way right now but the Jets are built to beat the big passing teams like Indy and New England. But if our defense takes the 4th quarter off in any of our future games with those teams you can expect a big red "L" when the game is over. That's the biggest thing the Jets have to get past right now, the need for the defense to show up for all 60 minutes of the game and not 50 or 55 minutes of it.

Yes. who cares how we win. This isn't the bcs. No style points.

Our performance from one game to the next means nothing except in the win column

    Debbie Downer....Queer

I've been wondering about this...it seems like we're leaving some of the clubs in the bag, and then aren't able to pull them out when needed.

When we were up two scores, Slob had all day to stand around and look for a guy.
This isn't Mike Vick, this was a guy with a friggin knee injury, and we couldn't even get him off his spot.

Hopefully Rex will be taking some snacks away...

Both of these result from the same thing. The entire defense is boxed at the LoS.

There's no where for Keller, or the Backs to go. What we do not seem to be doing (or what I would like to see a little of) is just saying, if you're going to stack it up anyway, we'll go jumbo and beat on you for a while.

This problem will begin to eliminate itself, as Sanchez keeps throwing for 300 plus a game without turning it over.

It's ok if they don't scare anyone, but FCOL, can we at least cover guys over the middle.

We've got a game coming in a couple weeks against a team with a petty decent pass catching TE and some White Chocolate guy....

He's gotten better, but..IF we had a short passing game that would happen less..

Yes. Easily. They have yet to put a complete game together, but Sanchez is rapidly making it hard for teams to keep stacking the box......

And if they don'twin it they're going to be F***d, because you can't keep all the talent on the roster going forward.

Strange that a Rex Ryan would have a team where the offense is outplaying the defense, but that's whats been happening the last several weeks.

We've yet to see a complete game from this team from each facet of the team. The O has been picking up the D as of late whereas the D was picking up the O early in the season. ST is not an area of concerns but the Jets hardly ever get that runback for a TD.

Penalties will kill you but Turner gets a pass. He plays aggressive and no one said a word when the Jets sent him in during the Pats Game? when Mangold got hurt. It was a non-factor.

We will know two weeks from tonight. I believe the Patriots game, on the road, will give us a feel for how good this team actually is. I remain unconvinced, but I'm happy it looks like we actually have a long term QB!

I think we have the talent and coaching to win it all but right now that talent isn't playing to their capabilities and the coaching has been horrendous on defense. Opponents have solved our blitzing schemes and we have no one that can rush the passer w/o the help of the blitz. I am concerned about our D and about injuries on the OL.

My biggest concern is our paper tiger D. If we can actually play like a real top defense we will win it all.

We need a statement game against the Bungles. Palmer is vulnerable to a pick-six or two, and we need to capitalize on every fuck up he makes. Spank them like we spanked them Week 17 last year.

After that Rex has eleven days to plug the holes in the ship before New England, Pitt, Miami, and Chicago. December's going to answer all our questions in a hurry.

QB's like Manning, Brady, Brees, Vick, etc would shit all over this defense right now.

Can then win it sure - will they, who knows. I really think that this team is still growing and gelling and we will see their best football coming up. After NE and Pitt, we will have a much clearer picture. But I think both those teams have some big weaknesses as well and are not quite as good as being labeled.

Green glasses off - I really believe this team is the #1 seed in the AFC this year - 1 more loss coming in Chicago.

I think this team can beat any team in the NFL and on most Sundays would beat most teams. Even if we do not win the division (I think we actually beat down the Pats - Browns Style), we would get the West winner in round one and we will be road tested and close game tested.

A big concern lately has been the special teams return game. When was the last time we actually had any type of decent kick off return.

The pass rush is a concern, it has been for a long time. Pace and Taylor have to find a way to step it up and get some pressure when we rush four. The Dline has been pretty stout all year doing their job - pass rush aside which is not where it should come from in a 3-4. I do not think the coverage is as much of a problem as is the pass rush. Our safeties are what they are and will get exposed if we give the qb time. We can win with Leonard and Pool but not if the qb has 6 seconds back there.

It seems the blitz has been used a lot less lately (seems we are blitz crazy or back way off) and when used has not brought the pressure it did last year. I would like to see a little more blitzing in some third and longs. **This is the challenege on Rex** he knows it and I think he will commit himself in the coming weeks to get it fixed and if he cannot it will utimately be our down fall.

The penalities do not concern me, it seems to be everywhere in the NFL this year and most teams are also getting some real questionable calls - we have room for improvement and I think we will.

I still do not think we have committed to run the ball enough. It seems like every game we get called for a hold on a big run and then abandon running after it for a while (yesterday it was on Edwards). Also Schotty gets too predictable in the actual run play, yesterday it was the toss out to the left side with Greene.

The pass game with Keller is off but with the connection to Holmes gaining chemistry - deos this really matter? Right now the passing game is with the run defense as the least concern. We have the deep threat and stretc the field with Edwards and Mark has been using LT effectively as a check down.
