A part of me wants to believe that Rex and the coaching staff will have this constant 4th-quarter, defensive collapse nonsense fixed for the Cincy game, and beyond. How much of that is wishful thinking/riding high off today's win? I couldn't tell you. But I truly believe Rex realizes it needs to get fixed, and fixed fast.
Its odd because the defense was a 2nd half defense last year. It'll get fixed, this CS is too good not to. But the players are accountable too. The secondary seems clueless at times.
Eric Smith and Brodney Pool are weak links. They are consistently getting beat by mediocre-at-best tight ends.
Because of Revis and Cro. We're gonna have to deal with it, good TEs are a disaster to begin with, the fact that we lock up the #1 and #2 WRs only makes them more of a primary target
it's frustrating watching this pass defense because the 2 top WR's are doing hardly nothing. the TE's and other WR's are killing us. today dreesen and the other white guy were running wide open. it looked like a blown zone coverage. shaub was also doing nothing for 3 quarters and all of a sudden, boom, everyone was getting wide open. like i've said before it's a good thing we have a ton of time to iron things out before the playoffs. we can still fix these things. unfortunately our pass rush will probably be non existent we just don't have the personnel to rush the passer. the blitzes don't work and there's not much we can do about it. you just can't have these guys running wide open.
Even Rex said in his presser that this needs to be fixed. I agree, the WRs are covered the TEs keep getting open.
I hate to say it but we do miss Sherry. Pool has been very disappointing it seems like the only time I even realize he's onthe field is when he's making a mistake.
Just like its been the fourth staright week everyone is sayin we are gonna blow a team out!Nail bitters from here on out my friends.
The One thing that seems to be constant is the blown coverages. If we keep blowing simple man-under coverages, we are going to lose a big game on a drag route that turns into a 70 yard touchdown.
Another problem is the lack of speed up front.. Thomas and Pace are not particularly quick or fast and have some trouble covering the flats. Pace is also having trouble setting the edge on runs this year.
I brought this up all week but we have major speed issues at linebacker in coverage and major size issues at safety. We have no player that matches up well with tight ends one on one. If a running back gets the ball in space against our back 8 it's a challenge because we lack speed. The bigger issues is we get no pressure on any qb.
