    Time to focus on our real enemy, the Pats.

    Remaining Pats schedule:

    Colts
    @Detroit
    Jets
    @Bears
    Packers
    @Bills
    Dolphins

    Remaining Jets schedule:

    Houston
    Cinci
    @Pats
    Dolphins
    @Pittsburgh
    @Chicago
    Bills

    Barring a miracle (or disaster) we're going to both beat the Bills and Phins again. If we take them out in Foxboro we have them by the balls, but if we don't we're probably looking at dual 5-1 division records.

    Right now it's even. We lost to the Ravens and they lost to the Browns.

    After this week we're done with non-commons. Texans, Colts only figure in for overall win-loss record.

    Cinci is a must as they beat them already, and so is Pittsburgh. They've got Green Bay on us, so if they win against them they'll have a common edge by one game.

    Bottom line, if they beat us it's not game over, but we probably have to win out to take the division.

    one week at a time fellas.

    If we learned anything over the last month....is that every game will be a tough test, no matter who the opponent is.

    I keep looking ahead too. I just can't help it. Right now though, all I want is a win over the Texans.

    Pats have us in common games...for the moment. Providing a split of the season series and each team having the same divisional record then the total number of common games comes down to 8. They would be the games we would each play vs. the NFC North and AFC North. They have us right now at 4-1 vs. the Jets 3-2.

    Pats beat PIT, BAL, CIN, MIN. Lost to CLE. 3 left. @Chi, @Det, GB

    Jets beat CLE, MIN, DET. Lost to GB, BAL. 3 left. @Chi, @Pit, CIN

    We need to beat the Patriots in their building. End of Story. Take a game lead hopefully. Then even if we lose the Pittsburgh, all we would have to is just win out. And our biggest matchup is the Bears, who look oh so vulnerable.

    Lets just take it a game at a time. Lets get to 9-2

    We're 5-0 on the road, I think we have a good shot at beating the Pats in their house.

    I think we are down right the better team then the Patriots. They aren't good. The Steelers played like a complete joke. But the Browns played very well and were able to frustrate Brady and the offence.

    Revis, Cromartie will frustrate Brady beyond belief. No Moss now to. Makes it even easier.

    Losing Moss is not going to make it easier necessarily. Put Welker and Tate to the outside and the Pats now rely on mismatches in the middle of the field with Gronkowski and Hernandez against LB's, safeties nickel backs and in case you haven't noticed that is where we have been weak in the last few games.

    Yeah, I'm worried about Brady killing us with short-medium range passes over the middle. Hopefully Rex will be able to plan accordingly.

    Isn't it clear that Randy Moss had absolutely no impact on the Patriots? Furthermore, unrelated to this thread, it's clear he hasn't had any impact on any team he's been on this season. The Patriots are a system team. They can pretty much plug in anyone.

    This week will be huge for us and the Pats. If we handle our business and the Colts find a way to win then things look good for us taking the division.

    Having common opponents as the tie-breaker ahead of AFC record puts our games vs the NFC teams in play and renders the Texans and Broncos games as the least important, as those are the only two of our opponents New England doesn't play.

    You know as well as I do that this lesson hasn't just been learned in the last month. Even for the younger Jets fan, anyone that was looking ahead at 9-5 in 2000 going in to playing the Lions, or was looking ahead as recently as 2008 at 8-3 only needs to know it's not all too rare for this organization to experience late season swoons.

    I believe the Same Old Jets was a myth to begin with, but nothing wrong with being vigilant. Just trying to show the danger in looking ahead. Right now the only thing I'm sure Rex has his guys focused on is Sunday at Houston. The past couple of weeks, teams have adjusted their game to try to knock off the big bad New York Jets, and I'm sure after the way they lost last week, Houston will be looking to come out strong.

    I agree with your response.

    The point I was making was that we faced the Browns, Lions and a banged-up Packers team over the last month......the majority of Jets nation figured these would be gimmes....but we found out otherwise.

    Going forward....you're right, we need to be vigilant and remained focus for each of our remaining opponents.

    As fans the fun is looking ahead and having it matter, that's the beauty of having a good team. If they call me up to play Sunday I will focus solely on the Texans.

    it's also not impossible that the Bills can go undefeated the rest of the season while the Jets and Pats both hit the skids -- but every possibility that has no empirical basis to believe it will occur simply isn't worth worrying about. in fact, doing so reflects the emotional stability of anyone and is the opposite of having a rational discussion. the Fags are done, and looking forward it is only reasonable to deduce that the Jets and Pats will be separated by no more than a game as the season comes to a close, making all these tie breaker situations relevant and worthy of discussion.

    the team has to focus one game at a time; fans looking forward neither hinders how the team will play week to week or our ability to do what we do -- watch the games from week to week.

    Miami is so banged up now I'm not too worried about them, just hoping they can knock off the Pats in Foxboro on Jan 2. Had Pennington stayed in there and given them a spark I'd have been worried since they were two or three games back in 2008 and pulled it off, but with no O-line and Thigpen going I think we can get the fork ready for them.

    get the fork ready?....dude, they lost to the Bears.....I think the Bears are severely overrated. You can stick the fork, spoon AND the butterknife in the Phins, imo.
