It's a bunch of excitable children with too much testosterone posturing on the internet, which is why I left it alone. They've got their reps to think of, best leaving them to tell each other how tough they are.

Do you really think it's about being tough guy, and about showing off how mach you are? Just... wow. I mean, a 'father' is enraged at the sight of his son blind-sided by a jerk, and that is the reasoning you come up with? Spectacular, man. Just spectacular.

unless you were in the situation and saw exactly what unfolded, there's no way to say what or what was not the appropriate action to take.

all we know is a 3rd party account of someone who wasn't even at the scene.

the only logical thing to say is that he should have at worst called the police if he was "tackled", after the fact.

You have to try and see how the situation is going to unfold. I was one that said I would get my son out of there.
That doesn't mean I don't stick up for myself or my family, I just think that was the best choice in the situation with the vast majority of people around being drunk Browns fans.
I grew up fighting, I had to since I was small as a kid and in my neighborhood it was a necessity so I got pretty damn good at it and like my chances against anyone. That doesn't mean I don't know when it is best to back down.

All that being said, when it is family involved it is very possible my protective instincts would have kicked in and I would have been brawling. My son is 6'3" 220 lbs though so if anyone tackles him they will have to deal with him first.

I started going to Shea in the early 70's with my dad and I didn't think it was bad but then again we were in the lowers in a section that everyone knew each other pretty well. Also as a 7-8 year old you are fixated on the game, they could have been brawling 3 rows back and I probably wouldn't have noticed.

I find that comment highly inflammatory and offensive, especially around this time of the year. Armistice day.

You obviously have no idea about history, let alone self conduct and have shown yourself up in a very bad light.

Do you have kids? I mean, isn't it remarkable that the same bunch of suburban house-eunuchs who absolutely go apeshit at the thought of a wee tyke not buckled into a car seat that didn't exist a generation ago, or of the entire world not coming to a complete standstill whenever a goddam school bus stops somewhere, or of a kid getting on a bicycle without full body armor and complete supervision, think it is absolutely appropriate to abandon their child in the midst of a mob so they can get into a fight? Just spectacular.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the crowd was dangerous, although I'm certain it was plenty drunk and surly, it was more a take on the experience as far as comfort goes. It sucked something bad.

I used to love watching a brawl when i was a kid in the 70's. I remember an great brawl at a yankees red sox game at the stadium - my fellow cub scouts were enthralled by it. I also remember tons of drunks dancing, chicks in the mens rooms and folks brawling while tailgating in the pouring rain for the jets / giants at the yale bowl in the 70's. Same thing at pats games in the 70's. Its a great American tradition.

I definitely agree with that. The wind coming in off Flushing Bay was a killer in the winter.

Browns organization is gonna do "whatever they can" for the boy. Probably meet some players or free tickets.

    Someone want to tackle me?

Sorry about the neanderthal comment. This all comes down to a matter of opinion. Anyone claiming this has to do with the feminization of society is just ignorant. Probably the same people against gay marriage and homosexuality (yes I'm going to go there.) The gay bashing on this site is ABSURD. It's not outright gay bashing, but the insults indicating that being gay is a negative thing has been rampant on this site for years. Guess it's to be expected - it's all over the country. "Fag" has replaced loser in America's lexicon.

I've have thought about this issue a bit more and I will say - I may have fought the guy depending on the situation. Overall, I am against all violence, wars, etc, but I will defend my family until the bitter end even though I don't have kids. If anyone tackled my cousin, sister, mom, brothers, etc. I would have fought - but again, depending on the situation and I'd say there a 99% chance this situation would not have called for a fight.

Sorry about the soapbox - I am not trying to seem holier than thou, but I am a person that believes all humans can get along and that, yes, admittedly, some people at football games do strike me as neanderthals - the ones that go to games to get drunk and LOOK for a fight against fans of the other team. Defending your family would not place you in this category. Whatever - just had to get that off my chest.

I threw Pats-Hater into the bushes outside the Izod center during the last tailgate. Does that mean that he can now get into the Jets lockeroom?

Calling people with whom you disagree ignorant, is very gay.

I call Hornet. You're the only one that didn't show up at the last tailgate..

Speaking of which, are you making any more games?
