Like I said before, just because Oregon and Boise have played the same amount of teams currently in the BCS top 25 doesn't mean much. The reason teams that go undefeated are so highly thought of is the fact that they are consistently playing at a high level against all comers. Oregon has beaten legitimate teams each and every week. You can compare the records of the teams that Oregon and Boise have played all you want, the fact is that the teams Oregon have beaten also play Pac Ten scheds. Washington is 2-4 in the Pac Ten, what would they be if they played in the WAC? Or UCLA? Or Cal? Where would Boise State be if they didn't have to play one tough team (who turned out to be miserable at the time) to start the year then not play anybody again until their bowl game? My guess is some place a lot different than where they are right now. And I don't want to hear about how Oregon's OOC sched isn't impressive, at least not compared to Boise. They might be scheduling one good team a year, but they didn't want any part of joining the Pac Ten this past year when it was out there. They could have solved all of their problems with the BCS in one move. Also, if Auburn loses, I would really find it hard to imagine how a team like Boise or TCU would deserve to be in the Title game over a 1 loss LSU team, who would have defeated five ranked opponents.
Bold part couldn't be more true. Why should I start a poll? South Carolina and LSU both beat Alabama. Auburn beat both of them.
Let's rewind. You implied that hosting South Carolina is tougher than a game at Alabama. I disagreed with that, and you started your name calling, letting me know how smart you think you are and how dumb you think I am. I think you'd find that general consensus would be against you with regard to your claim about how difficult the two games are. You don't have to start a poll, but until then, we won't get anywhere. I was paraphrasing your posts. Of course you think it's true, otherwise you wouldn't repeat it ad nauseam.
I never called you a name. You do realize that The Iron Bowl is more than likely going to have a shit ton of Auburn fans in attendance, right? It's arguably the biggest in-state rivalry in the country. It's not going to be the average home game for the Tide. Let's fast forward. I think you'd find that the general consensus would be with me on you being an annoying tool. There's a few college basketball games on. You should start a game thread and give us completely useless play-by-play.
Well, ok then. I know you prefer name calling to debating, so don't let me stop you. I made a suggestion regarding our disagreement over the respective difficulty of the games, and you go ahead and continue full speed ahead with your attack campaign.
There was no attack campaign here. I didn't call you a tool until you attempted to call me arrogant. My bad for knowing more than you. When someone says something outlandish like: TCU and Boise State should be #1 and #2, they deserve to be called out. I'm not going to stupid shit like this fly, even if it is your opinion.
Actually, that's where the attack campaign started. How about arguing in a mature manner, instead of resorting to calling your opponent a tool and saying his posts are stupid bullshit? It just drags the thread down a level when you feel the need to talk like that. Then in the same post where you claim to have not called me a name, you call me an arrogant tool? That's mature? If you can't back up your argument, just say so and walk away instead of injecting a variety of absurd personal attacks into the discussion.
Yeah, whatever. Let's try to rewind again to before all of your personal attacks and get back to the question of whether a home game against South Carolina is more difficult than a road game at Alabama. GH: Sorry we got sidetracked. I'll just have to concede that one, because this is far more entertaining.
I already mentioned this, but you ignored it. The Iron Bowl isn't the same as a home game. There will be a ton of Auburn fans at this game. ...and never, ever ask another poster to be mature on a god damn message board.
So change it to a semi-road game if you want. I still say it's a tougher game than South Carolina at home, and I'm pretty confident that Auburn fans, players, and staff would agree. It helped me make my point neatly.
South Carolina is still the better team this season. That was my entire point. Alabama is not the toughest team that Auburn's had to play. I'm done talking about this. It's pointless to argue with someone that's simply uninformed.
I never said that. Try going back and reading my post. I said it was the toughest game on Auburn's schedule. Nothing more, nothing less. Yeah, it's tough to debate someone who doesn't even bother to read my posts before he goes on his uninformed rants.
Call out Kenny White... he was the best oddsmaker in the country for 30 years. If he says TCU is the best team in the country I'll take his word for it. He set the openining lines for 30 years. I think he has an idea what he is talking about.
Isn't that what you were arguing against this entire time? Shouldn't it be "I won't accept that a mid-major is better than an undefeated SEC team." ? The whole Cock-Tide argument is funny since of course the Cock fan is going to say that the Cocks are better, though it should be said that Kentucky played a better game vs. Auburn than the Cocks did and Kentucky also beat the Cocks. So it's Auburn > Kentucky > USC.
Like I said I'm taking the word of a guy who lives eats and breathes the sport for a living. You don't set the lines by being biased or not having any idea what your talking about like the hacks on ESPN who only push their product. I wish I could find it but every year the polls these guys make in like week 4 or 5 end up looking like the final polls. You sound a lot like Mark May. Besides come Jan it won't matter because Auburn will lose to Bama or Newton will be deemed ineligible. Without any common opponents all I can say is that between October 3rd and Nov 2nd TCU gave up a total of 23 points. Auburn gave up more then that against 1AA Chattanooga. It doesn't say that TCU is better but it says they have a legendary defense. Throw in the beat the shit out Air Force who was a play away from beating Oklahoma and the SDSU game wasn't as close as the score and o BTW SDSU was a fluke and a bs call away from being undefeated.
Not for nothing, but who in college football does this? I love to watch CF, but mainly to look at prospects. It used to really irk me that at least half (maybe an exaggeration) of every major team's schedule is played against West Bubbafuck University School for the Blind. Major conference, weak conference, it's all subjective.
Mid-majors don't have the size, speed, or talent to compete with the best teams in the best conferences. That's a fact. There's nothing to accept. Kentucky is a lot better than their record, but they're not the team representing the East in the SEC Championship game, are they?
^ PARAGRAPHS are awesome. I understand you're a MWC supporter, but Auburn and Oregon are the two most talented teams in the country. TCU has a dominant defense against Mountain West teams. There's no way to prove that they could do the same against SEC competition, but I highly doubt that defense would be as strong. Auburn has the best offensive coordinator and the best player in the country. I don't care if his recruitment was rigged, Newton is the best player in college football. Oregon has the second best player in the country. James got in some trouble before the season started and no one's using that against him right now. Boise State is one of the best, most consistent teams in all of college football, but there's no way they could match up against SEC teams each and every week. TCU runs a gimmicky defense scheme that works almost to perfection, but the top tier Big Six programs would run the ball down their throats. There's just no way anyone's going to tell me that the top mid-majors deserve a shot more than the top Big Six schools. With the current system, it's just never going to work. Hopefully we'll see a playoff system soon.
