I haven't really noticed much from Pace since the Minnesota game, whether good or bad. He hasn't really generated much of a pass rush, but he has been pretty stout against the run. Just wondering if anybody has any insight as to what is going on with Pace this year? We rely on him to be our best pass rusher but he hasn't really been playing up to his standard.. I haven't heard about his foot, but I have to think that's been bothering him. They said he pushed it too hard in the Minnesota game, his first one back, so maybe he never really recovered? He is a big part of this defense, we are going to need him down the stretch to bolster our lackluster pass rush
I can guarantee that foot hasnt heeled 100% hence his lack of consistancy. This team needs a pass rush more than ever and I can guarantee its going to become a problem down the line starting with the Pats game in 3 weeks.I have seen no pressure on the QB at all in the past couple games unless we bring 7-8 guys.Im sure this has been stated before.
Actually, he's been pretty bad against the run (especially in the first half of the Browns game - didn't maintain the edge well enough.) Overall, he's been disappointing to say the least. Health may be a significant factor.
Just curious but how is Pace being less effective going to be any more of an issue than not having him at all against the Pats the first time?
Yeah, I think we can over power the Texans and the Bengals are in full on lay down mode, but the way Brady & Co played on Sunday night, I imagine they will bring the same heat on that MNF football game. I think the Jets are a great team and that in a single elimination playoff we're capable of beating anyone, but that Monday night game will be a great test. If we don't have a 4 quarter effort, I don't think we get out of foxboro with a win. |I can't wait for that game.
Just sayin,Pats are a completely different team at home.If we dont pressure Brady there is no way we win that game.Everyone needs to be 100% and bring their A game. Its a totally different team we will be playing than in week 2.
It's a team that the Jets match up with well. The Jets attacking philosophy on defense helps negate the 5 man routes that the Pats run to take advantage of Brady's ability to pick a defense apart. Rex has figured out how to get pressure on Brady consistently in all 3 games against the Pats. He hasn't even had Pace on the field for two of the games, funny enough both games that the Jets won. Unless you think Mankins is the key to beating the Jets blitzes (which last year would suggest he isn't) I don't see how the matchups are any different than week two. Sure the Pats have become a different team but so have the Jets.
True, the jets are a different team as well.We will have to see how things pan out.Lets just hope the Pats arent coming off a loss that week.
He should try and get some rest... hopefully vs the Bengals and the Texans we see more of Taylor so his foot has time to heal for our division games.
Gholston really sucks and I hope he is cut. But this is why we need a defensive end, to complement Calvin Pace. Maybe we should try and run more Middle linebacker blitzes with David Harris and Bart Scott. Good I can't wait until the draft. We need a pass rush DE, a DT, and maybe another OLB if available. If we get that and keep everyone out of trouble and healthy, then it would be safe to say the Jets rushing attack looks unstoppable
Pace? The Jets weren't really getting to Colt McCoy that well. And I thought it was Jason Taylor that had that sack.
Taylor had one, too. Pace put an outside speed rush on Porkchop, caught him off balance and then reversed direction to tackle McCoy when he scrambled. Well then give credit where credit is due. That's a beast of an offensive line in Cleveland. I already knew about Thomas and Steinbach, but that Mack kid is fucking mighty.
I agree completely. Gholston should have been released 2 seasons ago. He has 5 tackles so far this season.
We already knew Pace was never a game-breaking passrusher. He has had little to no impact thus far, which could be attributed to his foot. Pace is more of an all-around player, and we would be well-served bringing in a pass rusher to complement him this offseason. BT has not lived up to his contract and could easily be replaced.
To be fair to Pace, he's missed four games. But he's on track to surpass his per-game tackle average from last season and is only slightly behind in terms of sacks. The absense of Jenkins' wide body doesn't helping the pass rush, and Trevor Pryce hasn't contributed squat.
