Lots of people are overpaid, but this is the part that really makes no sense. Was Shanahan on board with this? If so, will he treat McNabb with respect? And if he wasn't on board, does that mean that he is already on his way out the door?

So I guess during the bye week, McNabb learned the rest of the playbook?

I'm promoting Snyder into the Jerry Jones/Al Davis category for loser owners.

I wonder if he consulted the coach before offering the contract?

These athletes are so well taken care of (training, nutrition, etc) that they can play top level football until they're around 38 (at QB). All the guaranteed money will prob be in the first 4 yrs of the contract so I don't see what the problem is.

4 years is a long time in NFL years...

PS Plus nowadays contracts in the NFL are so "creative" we should all look at what the contract actually says before commenting. Wonder if he has some punt returns bonuses like D'brick :p

PPS Oh and BTW the Redskins were wrong the moment they traded for him without first agreeing to a contract extension... Donovan held them by the balls in these negotiations...

Now why would McNabb want to retire? He's getting paid to suck for the next 5 years...

McNabb turns 34 later this month.

So there's no way this deal is gonna be cap friendly, the team still has holes on offense and defense. The defense is OK (obviously not tonight, altho I think this is more about the Eagles offense being ridiculous) but on offense they need playmakers and offensive linemen.

After tonights performance, if McNabb is worth his contract (he's not), what the hell will Vick request on the open market?

the redskins continue to be the joke of the nfl

they must have spent over a billion dollars in free agents since snyder took over and all of them have basically been busts

Think about it, this sets up perfect for the Redskins. They can bring in the older, more experienced free agent Brett Favre to start next year while at the same time he can mentor the younger, less experienced McNabb. This way McNabb can get conditioned and learn the playbook without "throwing him to wolves." Perfect.

Which, when I heard about the signing was my first thought.

Snyder it seems to me, likes the players....want's to be one of the guys in a bigger than Omar Minaya way....

No one I'd rather see in that position than Shanadouche.

Which also gives them a couple years to draft someone to learn behind McDrabb.
