There's been some confusion about the ages of some prospects, so I compiled this list. Age as of Sept. 1, 2011 (the start of next season). If the player's birthday is during the season I included the date, for example, Andrew Luck will be 21 at the start of the year, and turn 22 on Sept. 12. The order doesn't matter. If you don't see a player you're looking for, it means I couldn't find it on wikipedia. QB Andrew Luck 21 (9/12) Ryan Mallett 23 Jake Locker 23 Nick Foles 22 Blaine Gabbert 21 (10/15) Cam Newton 22 Christian Ponder 23 Terrelle Pryor 22 Pat Devlin 23 Jerrod Johnson 23 RB Mark Ingram 21 (12/21) LaMichael James 21 (10/22) Ryan Williams 21 DeMarco Murray 23 Shane Vereen 22 Mikel Leshoure 21 Daniel Thomas 23 Noel Devine 23 Kendall Hunter 22 WR AJ Green 23 Julio Jones 22 Justin Blackmon 21 Jonathan Baldwin 22 Michael Floyd 21 Ryan Broyles 23 Ronald Johnson 23 Leonard Hankerson 23 TE Kyle Rudolph 21 OL Derek Sherrod 22 Anthony Castanzo 23 Nate Solder 23 Gabe Carimi 23 Matt Reynolds 24 Tyron Smith 20 (12/12) DeMarcus Love 23 Rodney Hudson 22 Jason Pinkston 23 (9/5) Mike Pouncey 22 Stefen Wisniewski 22 Kris O'Dowd 23 Colin Baxter 24 DL Robert Quinn 21 DaQuan Bowers 21 Adrian Clayborn 23 Cameron Heyward 22 Ryan Kerrigan 23 Cameron Jordan 22 Aldon Smith 22 Jeremy Beal 23 (12/2) Greg Romeus 23 Marcel Dareus 21 Nick Fairley 23 Jerrell Powe 24 Jurrell Casey 21 (12/5) Stephen Paea 23 Jared Crick 22 Marvin Austin 22 Drake Nevis 22 Lawrence Guy 21 LB Bruce Carter 23 Justin Houston 22 Travis Lewis 23 Von Miller 22 Akeem Ayers 22 Mark Herzlich 24 (his birthday) Greg Jones 22 (10/5) Quan Sturdivant 22 (12/5) Dont'a Hightower 21 Alex Wujciak 23 Ross Homan 24 Kelvin Sheppard 23 Casey Matthews 22 DB Patrick Peterson 21 Prince Amukamara 22 Ras-I Dowling 23 Janoris Jenkins 22 (10/29) Deunta Williams 23 (11/21) Rahim Moore 21 DeAndre McDaniel 23 (11/26) Will Hill 21 Ahmad Black 22 (12/12) Quinton Carter 23
It's the only explanation. And it also now makes sense why Ross Homan and Colin Baxter are some of the best college football players the world has ever seen.
^^^^^^^^^^^^ I wasn't putting it towards every football player either. Many believe it for baseball though, the non native players that lie about their ages that flame out early...
I know, we're just busting you, but it did need to be said. And I wouldn't really put too much stock in that because the ages baseball players enter the MLB are SO much more varied than the NFL. With these guys it's going to be 22 or 23 90% if the time. With baseball players they could be anywhere from like 17 or so to late 20s. I think what's important about these guys that's also different than in other sports is that they've all played about the same amount of high level football. Sure, some guys only played a couple years of HS, but the 3 to 4 years in the college game is a constant. Baseball gets guys from HS, college, and other countries, they need to use things like age to separate prospects, because who knows how the other variables stack up across all these different levels.
Ok, I'm guessing there is some major sarcasem here, been sick as hell all week and not reading much. What the hell is going on here, and does this mean that Mark Brunell is now the best QB on our roster?
I fully expect him to get hurt and quit on Minny, so that would leave Brunell or Tony Richardson as the top canidates.
Nick Fairley is one of the dirtiest players in college football. He may not survive the season if some thug coach puts a bounty on him.
Reynolds is a mountain and a perfect RT in the NFL. With the Jets having no Rd 2 pick, I doubt Reynolds would be available in late Rd 3. I don't know Woody's status for 2011, IMO, Woody has played well so far this season. There's no doubt we need to find a future RT (or move a current player). I just think our DL, OLB & S position is in need of more immediate help. We should/might consider a Mid Rd pick for RT. I like Kyle Hix, from Texas has good size and seems to play well at RT. Chris Hairston, Clemson is another player that could be versatile on the line, backing up D-Brick in a pinch.
In my opinion, we'll pass on offensive linemen early in 2011's draft. I think we lucked out with Matt Slauson. Taking him in the sixth two years ago looks like a hell of a move by our coaching staff (specifically Bill Callahan). The biggest question on offense now is: what do we do with Vlad Ducasse? I hope that he can be our future right tackle. There's absolutely no reason or need to throw him into the fire, so he's really in the perfect situation to develop. While it'd be nice to grab a lineman late, guys like Rob Turner and Wayne Hunter provide solid depth.
Agreed, it isn't a priority in rd 1. D Line, OLB, S, and even a WR (if a good one falls) would be my targets. Tanny is going to have a difficult decision on Holmes or Edwards, it's going to be hard to keep both.
Depth is definetly a need. But I think the Jets should focus more on a pass rushing 3-4 DE as a first round pick, then a nose tackle. We might need to draft a WR if one of Holmes/Edwards is gone. The other pressing needs are Safety, of course Depth, and maybe an OLB.
The absolute worst case scenario is he takes Hunter spot as a back-up T + 6th OL (which still is important on this team) and is groomed/polished to eventually take Moore's place at RG. But my hope is he beats everyone out for RT next year. I wonder if players like Woody would take a pay-cut to stay on a contender... unless we win it all this year of course.
