This is where you are wrong things the NFL should control we as fans could not but the NFl and the team running the field should have controlled. Sorry Junc your wrong here
The field conditions did not determine who won, this is why we have a loser franchise(not currently but all time). We are still whining about a tarp not being used in a game nearly 30 years ago. AGAIN, how come Miami didn't have any problems against a BETTER offense a week earlier on a dry field? a team that BEAT Miami in Miami in the playoffs a year earlier. Why wasn't Shula flooding the field for that one?
For what? You are going a little nuts here, I didn't call anyone out individually, I didn't call anyone stupid. You are being way too sensitive. A couple of rules for you: 1. Never tale anything personal on a message board 2. As much as you value my opinion there's no need for the hero worship of me. I'm just a regular man like you or any other man on the board:smile:
No you aren't. You said so yourself. Without anything to back up your claim, youboast a memory better than 99% of the people here.
junc, Im not going to get into a long back and forth with you...its useless and life is truly great for most of us. I think you are a very smart poster...filled with knowledge and history of all sports. You lack the ability to play well with others and use those pluses, which in the long term, become minuses. Hacketts point is correct..its a knock on others. Im at a point with you right now that it may not be a knock. I think you cant help trying to build yourself up over others any chance you get. Thats a problem you will have to address at some point in your life and none of us will care or know when that takes place. Most people come on this board living normal lives to discuss the team they love...the Jets. A few come on here with a chip on their shoulders trying to build themselves up against faceless people that have nothing to do with their normal everyday lives. It is a knock when you tell people that you are correct on a subject you visually witnessed at the age of 7. What you fail to realize and it gets the best of you in a lot of your arguments, is what was taking place in the NFL at the point. What was the feel going into that game. What was in the head of a man (Shula) with a great reputation that made him think he needed such an advantage. Those things and hundreds of other things, are impossible to understand at the age of 7. For me, I found my first playboy magazine at the age of 7. I understood I saw real breasts and quite the bush. I understood many things about the pictures I saw that day. What I didnt understand is exactly how my penis would one day come into play with what I saw. Not sure if you get the drift.
Again, TEST ME. Whether people like or dislike me here they know I have a great memory. if you are confident it's not as good as I say then test me. We are here to debate, learn and have fun. I love debating, if that is a problem for others I do not care. There have been times I have crossed the line and I have apologized for those few times but you have to have really thin skin and a complete lack of confidence if you get upset w/ my comment about having a better memory than 99% of the people on this board(I may have sold myself short, it very well could be 100%). It wasn't a shot at anyone else, I just happen to have a great memory. Do you want me to lie? Should I have said 80-90%, would that have made you guys feel better about yourselves? The great thing is I don't just have the memory from that time. I jhave also read and watched plenty of pieces about that game including rewatching the actual game as an adult and my opinion has changed. As a kid I also used that excuse about the tarp but I grew up and learned and now I undrestand it was just an excuse. Championship teams do not make excuses, they will beat you anywhere under any circumstances and in any conditions. That team was not a championship team. I understand we don't have a great history and we have very few big games to hold on to but the facts are we got outplayed. have you ever watched some of the clips of old NFL games where the fields were 10x worse than in Miami that day? Games have been played in conditions much worse than that day. Was it cheating when Parcells would have the gate in the EZ opened up for opponents to make it more difficult against the wind? Coaches will do anything to gain an advantage and that is what Shula did. Something tells me we wouldn't be hearing any whining if the roles were reversed. The bottom line is we had a chance to win that game and reach the SB, we FAILED. By the way, I don't have a chip on my shoulder. many posters come after me. Do yourself a favor and re-read the entire thread w/ my posts and the posts that responded to my posts and let me know what you find. I wasn't angry, I wasn't lecturing, I gave my opinion then I had to be attacked for it which is what usually happens. You guys can keep whining and making all the excuses you want, the score isn't changing, the game isn't changing- it's time to get over it.
This has nothing to do with testing but rather fair play. You say this a loser franchise then go away. You have no respect for other peoples opinions. The NFL and all sports are built around the principal of fair play when that is purposely violated then that is cheating. I hope you do not have a job where you deal with people because your attitude bites as far as respecting them and their ideas. And you are the one who brought this topic up. The score is not changing but a lot of opinions about you are. You are little more then a troll. The bottom line is cheating is cheating opening closing the doors for the wind, not covering the field. Listen to south florida sports talk and listen to the ex players boast about this and your idea may change. I for one am done with you and this thread
Who the heck are you and why should I care if you are done w/ me or this thread? I love when people attack me, I again ask all of you to go back and read the posts and see who was attacked first. Coaches will always do whatever they can to gain an advantage. Miami earned homefield and they used it to their advantage. Whether it's NE and the snowplow, Belichick and the tarp, Shula and the tarp, Parcells and the doors in the EZs at the meadowlands, the Jets and the tarp against Pitt '03, Minnesota piping in crowd noise, etc... That's all part of the game, the best teams will overcome those obstacles, we weren't the best team in 1982.
