I have been using since last year and updates alot ( just some info for people who have never seen the site) Heres rounds 1 and 2 , later in the year the do a full 7 round mock but heres one of the better 2 rnd mocks ive seen so far. I love that they have the Jets choosing: 26. - Cameron Heyward, DE , Ohio State and 58. - Von Miller , OLB, Texas A&M the scariest thing though is that they have the Patriots taking these players in the draft: 15. ( Raiders Pick) - Allen Bailey, DE, Miami 32. Micheal Floyd, WR, Notre Dame 34. Aldon Smith, OLB, Missouri 62. Chris Hairston, LT, Clemson Now Im not to sure Aldon Smith would come out and If he did would be picked in the first IMO, but if he fell to them and there draft for just the first 2 rounds looked like this would be insane. Keep in mind this thread isnt about the Pats its about the Jets, there division Rivals, and the NFL. Take a look and see what ya think.
I just don't see Von Miller as a good fit in Rex Ryan's scheme. In my opinion, Oklahoma's Jeremy Beal or Purdue's Ryan Kerrigan would be much better fits. (*EDIT: I just saw the alternate selections for each pick. Looks like both Beal and Kerrigan were considered as alternates. Landing Jerrell Powe and Ryan Kerrigan in the first two rounds would be awesome.)
I agree with you that Miller may not be the best for this D but ending up with him in the second , I wouldn't be disappointed. Also, I feel like Kerrigan would be a better 4-3 DE then a 3-4 OLB but thats just me, not to say he couldnt be in a defense like ours, I just think he'd have a better career there.
Btw , E not trying to promote this website at all but whats your opinion on it? Some times it seems really accurate other times waaaaay off, I believe youve seen this website before but whats your opinion.
I think Ayers could play inside in the 3-4 and it wouldn't be a wasted role at all. I could see him playing a role similar to the one that Derrick Johnson plays in Crennel's scheme in KC. The guy is a little overrated as a pass rusher. His potential as an edge rusher is what has a lot of people excited. Ayers has never had big time sack numbers at UCLA. He's a nasty run blitzer - one of the best in the country. Ayers is more of an all-around linebacker than a just a pass rushing specialist. (*EDIT: For the record, I think his BEST fit is at 3-4 OLB)
Honestly, I really could care less about a computer simulated mock though. It's an interesting idea for a website, but I could give a shit about what they're predicting...because like you said: it's either accurate or way the fuck off. I wish the site told us why in the hell each team made that specific choice. That's the main thing I have wrong with the site.
Definitely agree with that, the site would be drastically improved if there was some sort of reasoning. Overall I like the premise but it needs some definite changes.
Uhhhh I hate that site. HATE it. Every year it's the same thing, the obvious needs are solid, but then it just factors in crazy things. I suppose it tries to plan for the natural randomness of the draft (Jaguars taking Alualu), but that's not something people really want to see. If you want a really good site, sidelinescouting.net. I only started going there last year, but those guys are really good at what they do. They keep their design really simple, but the info there is tremendous (don't judge them too much now, still very early).
I disagree with Kerrigan in the late 2nd. I think that he goes mid 2nd because of the person that he is. His stock will rise post combine. He will be a 40-50 range prospect.
If Kerrigan runs well and puts up a decent amount of bench reps at the combine, he could go late first.
If only the Jets picked Nick Fairley... sigh. He won't fall out of the first 15 and if he does he's deff not getting to the Jets. Jeremy Beal would be better in Ryan's scheme. He really gets to the QB. Akeem Ayers I would also rather have than Miller. What about JJ Watt?
they have Aldon Smith falling to the 3rd in there newest. and the jets beating the patriots in the Superbowl.
I would be really pissed if that was NE's draft. I'd rather they go RB early on Ingram or Williams rather than taking Bailey. Also, Aldon Smith in the 2nd is a joke. If he comes out, he'll go Top-10, possibly Top-5. The guy is a freak.
