It's strange, and will sound dumb but I play Madden vs our opponent that is next on our schedule the whole week prior. I've played them about 4 times this week, in 3 of the 4 games KW got a pick, and 2 of those 3 they were a pick 6. I think it's an omen.
I'm guessing since ol Vern can't get to the QB, Rex will trot him out vs the run and let Ellis, who is the more accomplished pass rusher, go out there semi-fresh to attempt to get the passer. Im sure it's just to keep Ellis a bit fresher.
Vern did pretty well against the run last week. He didn't get the tackles but he was standing up the guy in front of him and moving him into the backfield so the RB didn't have anywhere to go. One time he blew his guy back 3 yards into the backfield almost instantly - quite impressive when the o-lineman is going downhill for a run block.
