That exact formation I wouldn't expect to see. I wouldn't be shocked to see only 3 DB's on the field from Rex though, just like I wouldn't be shocked to 7 or 8 DB's on the field from Rex. He is an evil genius with the schemes.
Browns' Marcus Benard collapses BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns linebacker Marcus Benard collapsed in the locker room during the media interview period. Benard was sitting in a chair when he suddenly fell to the floor. At first, some of his teammates, who were getting dressed for practice, thought he may have been joking before linebacker Matt Roth yelled for a trainer. Benard's eyes were open as three members of Cleveland's training staff checked on him. The team had no immediate word on his condition. Benard leads the Browns with 4½ sacks this season. He made Cleveland's roster last season as an undrafted free agent from Jackson State. He has started two games this season for the Browns, who host the New York Jets on Sunday. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5791899
i'd like to see more greene, and conner during rushing downs. seems like LT needs to relax a bit more, or the jets need to get him the ball in open space.
What I have seen of McCoy, his ceiling is a better version of Chad Pennington. Im a Pennington fan, so this is a compliment. Colt is really accurate, better arm than Penny has now, but not sure about his arm if Penny didnt ruin himself trying to compete with Vinny. McCoy has shown really good pocket awareness so far, Jets D will be a major challenge for him
Here's the thing with McCoy - there are now 3 games of film out there on him which is about what it takes before teams start to get a feel for what QB's tendencies are. Even so, just looking at the stat line, he really hasn't done too much. It seems to me that if you can stop Hillis, you stop there offense.
The Jets need to bring 8 in the box then. Cromartie and Revis can handle any Browns WR one on one. Test McCoy. He will fail.
Thank god. I just rewatched the game and Coleman was absolutely dreadful. I was thinking that Rex would have to be off his rocker to continue putting him out there so much.
That's pretty much how I feel. I'd like for Drew Coleman not to be on the field though unless he's blitzing.
True on the film comment, and I agree that Hillis will be the key, but we will have to account for McCoy all the time....he can run and doesn't hesitate to do so. McCoy is the real deal, he can play, but he will not have seen anything close to a Rex Ryan defense before. Then again, I'm sure Rob will do his best to expose him as much as he can during this week......
He was released from the hospital tonight, with further evaluation tomorrow. And I do wish him well, hope its nothing serious...but if he misses the game, I can't pretend I'm upset about it. As long as its nothing serious, of course.
The fact that their leading receiver is a TE, their second is Hillis, and their third is a WR the Jets should be able to roll coverage, mix up looks, and bring a lot of pressure to really confuse McCoy. They need to stop Hillis though because he has run well against the Jets in the past.
Interesting, I just heard on the radio a interview with Colt. He said this week will definitely be a challenge because we are the most complicated and best defense they faced so far. They've played the Ravens and the Steelers already, I wonder what they see in the film. Obviously he's not going to bash us but I thought after facing the Ravens and Steelers D he would just say the norm. Colt also mentioned facing the best CB tandem in the league and how that will be a major problem for himself to deal with. Colt sounded kind of nervous just talking about it, lol. I hope Rob Ryan didn't scare him too much during practice.
That was 2008, and he did have a good day, 129 yards on 22 carries. (5.9 avg) Obviously our defense than was nothing like it is now, and that was the game directly after we beat the undefeated Titans. It was also the beginning of the end for us that year. You know when Elam and Rhodes are our leading tacklers for a game that's not a good sign. I'm just saying his past success has nothing to do with this year, it's a completely different team and a completely different defense.
Hey all... This game has a lot of interesting sub plots going in and you guys hit on pretty much everything. Don't be shocked if Colt has some success against you guys if you stack the box. If our O-line hits your front 7 or 8 in the mouth, Hillis is going to deliver hits instead of taking them, moving piles and making plays that aren't even there. By no means am I doubting your defense though and I expect one of the hardest fought games of the season, especially in the trenches. Our defense needs to be creative because Rex knows whats coming... We'll see if Mangenius can pull out another one; if we win, it will be coaching and heart not talent.
