Is this really the comparison you want to make?

Stafford's durability is questionable, but he gets smacked around behind that OL. Sanchez finishes his games pretty damn clean and this is NOT always going to be the case.

People are ripping on Schotty again. Go figure. Schotty does what Rex tells him to do.

When Sanchez wanted to run the two minute offense in OT, who did he ask?

    RYAN

He didn't go to Schotty. He went to Rex. Rex is behind what Schottenhiemer does and doesn't do. Rex is calling the shots. Sanchez knows it. Schottenhiemer knows it. It's about time Jets fan knew it too.

Wow, what a mature response that doesn't at all reek of the inferiority complex that your fanbase has assigned to it. Seriously, man, everyone else here manages to come up with a response that stays on topic. You feel the need to go out of the way to bash a team (and in particular, a player) that has nothing to do with the discussion. Why don't you try thinking about why you felt the need to do that. If you were a real Jet, you'd be happy with this victory. If you're an asshole jumping on the Jets' bandwagon and haven't been a fan long enough to be secure in rooting for the Jets while not bashing the Giants, please be kind enough to do the intelligent and secure posters on this board a service and keep your retardation in check. And I know I'm probably over-reacting to this, but I'm tired of Jets' fans going out of their way to bash the Giants but then acting like I'm speaking Greek to them when I call them on their actions reeking of an inferiority complex.

Now, let me actually address your points directly. I'm not sure I would say Stafford looks like a retard. Eli looks more like a candidate for Down's (retroactively diagnosed after people notice he's color-coding his playbook a little TOO well). Sanchez looks the most likely to dress metro because it's "trendy" only to later have an embarrassing story surface about his love of the "shotgun formation."

As for the Favrian INTS, I was actually stating that I am happy that Sanchez has cut down on those this year (he had a number of INTs last year that never should have been thrown), but don't let that stop you from getting your panties in a bunch. And have you even watched Eli play this year? 7 of his INTs have been off of the hands of Giants' players and the only boneheaded pick he threw was the ill-advised left-handed shovel-pass against Tennessee. That one play was retarded/symptomatic of Down's, but besides that one stupid play he's been playing some damn good football this year. He's on pace for highs in yardage, TDs, and completion percentage.

I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of the coaching staff needing to get Sanchez in a rhythm. I think that a QB needs to be started with a series of plays that establish a rhythm that builds up into an eventual fever-pitch & crescendo. The application is that you start with some quick read plays (slant, WR screen, play-action w/a deep post read) that then transition to more complicated plays (ie weakside drag w/a weakside TE 12 yard out w/the strong side WR running a deep crossing route) and then you finally give your QB full control of the game with freedom to call audibles and change the play based on what he's seen & read theretofore. I think this coaching staff likes to keep pulling Sanchez back in to the first phase of this and keeping him on fast-developing plays with half-field reads.

If Sanchez is the player the Jets believed him to be in the 2009 draft, they need to stop over-coaching him & start letting him play the game.

Edit: Sorry for the over-reaction, it's just been one of those days.

I don't like the Giants, and most Giant fans. The last thing I want to read is a Giants fan opinion of Mark Sanchez.

I didn't get past your first sentence, but I'm sure the rest was great too.

You gave me a good idea, I'm headed to a Bills board to discuss their QB, I'm sure they really want my opinion.

People rip Schotty for his play calling, nothing else. The players are always ready to play, but sometimes the play calling is baffling.

Rex has admitted last game they may have ran it too much because in his words "Schotty was trying to make him happy." Of course the OC is going to follow the philosophy the HC has (our case, ground and pound), but most of the playcalling blame can be put on Schotty.

He is calling the same runs to the inside on 1st down, and he is calling the reverses at bad times.

not for nothing, he made some good points.

The overcoaching is a phrase I wished I was using, because I agree with that. I think last year he was overcoached, until he said something and the passes got easier. This year it's not as bad, but again Sanchez is wanting to do things that make him comfortable that the coaches just aren't doing. That's concerning, but not alarming because its being worked out. I've been on the attack on the offense recently, but I should take my own advice and practice some patience and let them iron things out.

As much as I want to go down field more, I want high percentage passes and high comp percentage that compliments a dominant running game. This might have to be a week to week adaptable offense that attacks the weakness rather than running their type of game... Problem is, Schotty doesn't do that - its well documented he doesn't do that.

    That's usually my issue.

The reverses, the cute shit that just didn't apply for the situation the offense found themselves in. It killed the flow of the game at times.

    Time and place playcalling.

But IMO, Sunday wasn't his worst day. But it took Sanchez again to tell his coaches what was going to work the best. I look at that positively, while in the back of my head thinking "he's really young, you should know too."

I still have no clue where this offense wants to go or wants to be at this point. I know what I want, but fuck what I want - I'm a mere fan.
