Jeter, Cano, Teixeira win Gold Glove awards. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5784846 Cano and Tex deserve it, but Jeter winning makes the award even more meaningless than it was already.
I'm sure Cappy will jump in and tell us why Jeter deserved instead of maybe being dead last in the running...actually I don't really think HE would but I am sure junc would if he still came into these threads. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...-all-but-four-shortstops-in-baseball-history/
WTF, dude? Why bring up my name? Especially if you're going to immediately correct yourself. I'm no Jeter fanboy. His receiving a GG this year is a joke. The nicest thing I'll say about his defense is that when he got to the ball, he usually made the play... lowest error total of his career. That's a horribly limited view of defensive prowess, of course.
I'm also pretty sure you don't use "dude" when you talk to people. Anyway, more comments of Jeter winning the GG. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/10/what-theyre-saying-about-jeters-gold-glove/?related=1
ESPN Breaking News: Yankees GM Brian Cashman flying to Arkansas to meet with Free Agent P Cliff Lee Wow ESPN, really groundbreaking stuff.
except their track records are nothing alike? Cliff Lee has been damn good for multiple years now. Burnett has always had electric stuff, but has never fully been able to control it, hence the .500 record he had when he signed his contract. He was signed because of his stuff/potential, not because of his pedigree. Lee would be signed on both.
Cliff Lee is the real deal and I hope they throw the bank at him but if/when he signs does he automatically take the #1 slot away from CC?
I would assume no way. CC's been the horse for 2 years and has done nothing to have that role taken away. Championship in 2009 and Cy Young-caliber in 2010. They're good friends and Lee will be happy to be considered the "co-ace" of the staff. On opening day, though CC will be the starter 100%.
I haven't seen the schedule yet, but I would assume that if Lee is signed he'd get the road opener and CC would pitch the home opener. That makes the most sense to me. I'm actually starting to worry Petttite isn't coming back. I'm looking forward to seeing Montero start. And in old news, while I'm surprised Jeter won the Gold Glove, I actually saw that a MLB scout said he deserved it. Not because his range is anything of worth, but because he plays shortstop very intelligently. According to the scout, Jeter is great at positioning himself according to the batter. He makes more plays based on being "in position" than someone else would by having better movement. I actually thought it was interesting, and also, I'm a fan of the Gold Glove, because unlike all the sportswriter bullshit awards based completely on math nerd garbage, the award comes from the respect of those who are actually involved with the game on a day-to-day basis. Personally, I'd still rather see Cy Youngs and MVPs voted on by the players/managers than the retards who write sensationalized stories for a living.
