Maybe you're right. Maybe we need complicated schemes for every opponent and that's the way you win in the NFL.

Personally I think that if you have the talent, you find the 15 plays that highlight your strengths, practice the h*ll out of them until you can execute in your sleep and shove em down the other teams throat every week.

I don't think he needs to run anything that is overly complicated. He likes to do formation shifts but if Sanchez hates them he has shown that he will keep them out of gameplans. I think it's hard for Schotty to run an effective system when he is still working with Sanchez' inconsistency. I'm sure some weeks they put stuff in the gameplan that Sanchez just can't run in the game. As they eliminate that stuff and gain a better understanding of how the other thinks it we can expect to see a more consistent offense.

I just don't see how we can afford Sanchez room to be inconsistent while expecting that Schotty should be able to draw up the magic scheme to keep him from being inconsistent.

Sanchez is still the guy executing. Don't get me wrong, Schotty needs to go downfield more (even if for no better reason than to stretch the field) but Sanchez does show a propensity to look to checkdowns as his #1 read.

My take on Sanchez is that he's playing VERY well in spouts, but he's still a work in progress. The biggest thing he's cut down on is the "Brett Favre mistakes" we saw last year where he clearly tried to do too much. I want to see more consistency out of him & I'm perturbed by his accuracy being so low in a ball-control offense as this.

I want to see him get up quicker after being hit too. It bothers me that he'll take one solid shot and peel himself off the ground. Maybe that's just a part of his overly demonstrative personality, but I'm not loving that.

Overall I think he's playing well but is still a work in progress. He needs to play better if this team is going to win in the playoffs. I'm going to watch closely as the regular season winds down (I'm also curious to see how he handles the conditions in the new stadium as the weather gets rough).

Sanchez is tied for 2nd in the league in completions 40+ yards. He's tied for 10th in 20+ yard completions.

That and he doesn't look like a retard, traits that Eli and Matthew both have.

Also seems Eli is becoming more "Favre" like with his INT's. Eli has already passed his 08 INT total and is only 3 away from last years total.

When Sanchez gets in a rhythm he is spot on. At his youthful age I think Schotty and the receivers need to do a better job of getting him in that rhythm. Like they were doing earlier in the year when KELLER was more involved.

Maybe I over-simplify things, but the question I keep asking myself is:

Does this Jets offense have the players/talent to be a top 5 offense?

I think we do...which starts to make me wonder why we're not even close.

Right now we are 13th overall, so we're getting there.

Sanchez is young, and he's very fresh for a 2nd year QB due to his limited college starts. That just shows me how truly special Mark is.

When Sanchez plays like a top 10 QB the offense looks amazing. When he is having a rough go of it not so much. I love how Sanchez is developing but sometimes he isn't good enough to run a top offense, sometimes he is.

He throws a pretty deep ball. Always tight spiraled.

Its the 12 yard throws that he still needs work on. Those are the important ones in this era of passing.

Agreed. These are also the passes in which a couple of inches can be the difference between moving the chains and disaster.

He throws those deepballs like a cottonball deliberately nestling in.

I think the pre-snap movement is a big issue for the entire offense and not just Sanchez. Guys get confused run the wrong routes or just plain aren't looking for the ball. I actually think they should let Sanchez read the defense and adjust accordingly. Its clear they are not letting Sanchez audible out of plays and hes running a very predictable offense. Other teams are just attacking us and we don't have them on their heels. I hate to say it, but we need to run less. We need to get teams on their heels to keep guys out of the box and that the coaching. Maybe its Rex pushing his vision of offense, or Shotty being stupid, but we definitely have to come out throwing down the field on the Browns. They can't cover our receivers and it will take the safety out of the picture. Let Sanchez command this offense.

With the offensive weapons & offensive line the Jets have I don't think it's a stretch to say they're utilizing only a portion of their potential. You watch the same games I do; do you really think it's an unfair assessment to say that this offense is a tad too conservative? I don't have a problem with a ground & pound ball-control oriented offense, but you still need to threaten downfield if & when the opportunities are there.

Sanchez success going deep tells me that the opportunities are there, I don't think it's a stretch to say they aren't being capitalized on.

Sanchez needs to get better and play more consistently for the team to improve. Hopefully he'll show marked improvement over the 2d half of the season and lead the Jets to the AFCE Title.
