this is my first mock draft so try not to kill me it only covers the jets, doesn't assume any trades, and i think we will lose our second rounder to San Diego. 1) Nick Fairley DE, Auburn - I think he's one of the best defensive players in the draft. And this is more of a hope on my part i don't think he will be available late in the first round, but i hope so. 3) Austin Pettis WR, Boise State - There's not really a 3-4 linebacker i love here, and we are going to loose either Holmes or Edwards . Pettis is versatile can play anywhere on the field. He also used to play qb like brad smith who is a free agent. 4) Ian Williams NT, Notre Dame - A very good nt prospect and i think he can contribute soon, i think he also has a lot of room to grow. 5) Kenny Rowe OLB, Oregon - He needs to bulk up a little. He played de in college so he's a coverage liability. But he has a great motor plays hard every play and is a sacking machine. If he works out he could be huge for us. 6) Chris Rucker FS, Michigan State - Played corner in college so he should be able to hold his own in single coverage. He has good size but is not the ball hawk that we need back there. Also off the field issues. But he could help with our te problem. 7) Graig Cooper HB, The U - Some injury problems but he can block catch, run and i think he will be a good prospect going forward.
Fairley is a dominant player, he's been rising and IMO, will be out of reach for the Jets in Rd 1. Pettis was in my last two Jet's Mock, as a Rd 2 prospect. Love Pettis' special team ability, and would be a steal, if available, in late Rd 3. Boise State is a great team with out any clear cut superstar players, not a pipeline to the NFL like other schools. Boise State is probably the most disciplined well coached team in College Football. You know..."The Whole is greater than the sum of it's parts"!!! Rowe was also in my mock, very undersized, but I love his motor and love for the game...great player. I think Mr. E mentioned Rex likes big OLBs.....so he may not be a good fit. Rucker should be drafted higher. Nice effort...glad we some new input!!!
We get Fairley and I'm on the bus. Overall I like the values assigned to the guys, and we get some players that fill realistic needs. Cooper is the kind of player who would be really good in a 3rd down role, and would probably immediately knock McKnight off the roster. Good job.
thanks i don't think Fairley will be there either I'm just hoping he is. Rowe can gain a little weight and he's definitely worth a 5th. And the average raven lb weight is around 247. Rowe is 230 he can get up to 240 so he should be all right. and rucker just had a dwi. plus the fight he got suspended for means he might drop to the sixth. And if rucker is off that Lainhart.
