PPR league, 5 pt bonuses at 100, 150, 175 yards for RBs/WRs and at 300/350/400 yards for QB's. Return yards are 25 per pt. My team is 7-0. I'm trying to set up for the playoffs. QB Orton, Fitzpatrick, Romo RB Chris Johnson, Mendenhall, LT, Torain WR Harvin, S Moss, Bowe TE Gates, Daniels The trade is me giving up LT and Mendenhall and getting McCoy and Rodgers. Rodgers is a QB upgrade, McCoy is a RB upgrade slightly on Mendenhall, but I lose LT in the flex, who would be replaced by Bowe and Torain. Is this deal worth it for me? And don't give me "you should have him add someone else" or something. I've been trading for 3 days, and he won't budge anymore.
I'd say do it and then try to package Orton with Torian or Bowe to a team with a weak QB to upgrade your flex, With Rodgers you really don't need a strong backup qb
I agree that you should probably have a plan for moving Orton if your gonna do the move. No sense keeping all those points on the bench.
You have 3 QBs I don't see too much of a point in upgrading at a position that's not weak. I do like McCoy though. I guess it's a fair trade but your gains are minimized a bit. You probably upgrade 10-20% at QB but lose two good RBs in exchange for a good RB. McCoy and Mendenhall are equal and LT I think is a notch below going further into the season. Then again CJ, McCoy, and Torain is a really good RB corps in PPR especially.
Just flip a coin. Heads- make the trade. Tails- do not make it. I am being serious. At least half of fantasy football is luck anyway. In my money league there are 14 teams. In six of the first seven weeks the 2nd highest or 3rd highest scorer lost. One guy is 5-2 but 12th in points scored.
Where as A Rod is a much better player than Orton, Orton is actually the better fantasy player. I would keep Orton AND LT. It seems like LT is getting more workload than Greene and gets more goal line carries. One TD and 60-70 yards by LT a game far out-weighs most RBs production. I wouldn't do it. Heres something you might wanna consider. Rashard Mendenhall will be getting a slightly reduced workload in the future as per their HC. I don't think you need an upgrade at your QB position. Not enough to warrant letting LT go.
That's the thing: I'd love to peddle Orton for a team with a weaker QB. But no team has that weak of a QB. And those teams that have what I'd consider weak QB's think Orton sucks. He has no value because of his name brand. And if he keeps his job, which I think he will, he'll keep putting up numbers. He actually has more fantasy points than Rodgers this year. And I think McCoy will be better than Mendenhall, especially in a PPR league. I hate giving up LT, but right now I'm leaning towards doing it. Between Torain and Bowe, I think I can play matchups fine at the flex, and I'm sure I can find someone else, too. I would be able to cut both Romo and Fitzpatrick and get someone like Derrick Mason or Steve Breaston, both who are on waivers right now. Yahoo's projections say I get a much better deal here, but it also has Rodgers putting up a lot more points with Orton.
If this is your only problem, you could also then move Rodgers for an upgrade, I think Rodgers can net you something stronger than LT in a return deal and I am really big on McCoy (have both of them on my team actually)
Whoever is getting Calvin gets a great deal there. Braylon has been better than I thought for fantasy purposes, but Calvin is Megatron. Hernandez is replaceable for sure. Update on my trade: At the last minute, I got offered Roddy White and Brandon Jackson for Rashard Mendenhall and Dwayne Bowe. I was going to accept that deal, but I got the Rodgers owner to throw in Ryan Mathews if I added Kyle Orton. Then I turned around and traded Ryan Torain, Owen Daniels, and Dwayne Bowe for Ray Rice. So here is my team for the rest of the year (12 teams) QB: Rodgers, Fitzpatrick RB: Chris Johnson, Rice, McCoy, Mathews, Hart WR: Harvin, S. Moss TE: Gates I have 2 free roster spots available for next week. Probably going to use one for Steve Breaston and someone else, maybe a bye replacement for Gates.
I think you get nothing for 3 weeks out of that deal and then have to hope he returns to form quickly. See if you can get another upgrade out of the deal.
I've got Meachem on my bench and with all the other wr injuries SD has, he might be good for the playoffs.
