The defense is only going to get better, who knows about the offense. The tools are all there offensively...........
The penalties and opponents third down conversion percentage are two things that jump out. They looked much better on third down against the Packers, but the penalties are still jumping out at you.
Yeah that is crazy - Jets 52 for 478 yards that's insane, a huge chunk of that came in the first game.
3 out of their first 4 games they scored 38, 38, and 41. Only scored 14 on us though. 41-14 at Miami, most teams pump the brakes a bit, but you know how BB loves to win by as much as possible.
What the numbers don't show are that the Patriots are just a more disciplined and better prepared team than the Jets right now. Sure, the Green Bay game wasn't the end of the world. But in a division race where every game counts big, it hurts. The Patriots won't go down easy, even against the best teams in the league, so the Jets need to step their game up big time from here on out to win the division. As for Miami, they are very tough this year but the Patriots and Jets are a cut above. They'd probably be the best team in the NFC, though.
I agree, the Patriots don't ever give anything away. They minimize turnovers and penalties. On special teams they are usually better the unit. They rarely give up big plays on defense. In order to beat them you need to play the same way.
I know it's not as an important stat as some of the other stats but the Pats have had the easier schedule by the looks of the W/L. I thought they had a lot of tough teams on their schedule so far, but seeing that W/L is pretty shocking to me, and almost takes a little bit away from the whole "Pats are #1" title that they have right now. I woulda thought their opponents W/L would have been the hardest.
Actually they didn't run up the score. brady only threw 24 times for 153 yards and 1 TD, they ran the ball 32 times Also here is the scoring summary 1st Quarter MIA TD D.Bess 19 yd. pass from C.Henne (D.Carpenter kick) (7-64, 4:02) WATCH HIGHLIGHT 2nd Quarter NE FG S.Gostkowski 23 yd. Field Goal (16-55, 9:11) WATCH HIGHLIGHT NE FG S.Gostkowski 30 yd. Field Goal (13-63, 2:47) WATCH HIGHLIGHT 3rd Quarter NE TD B.Tate 103 yd. kickoff return (S.Gostkowski kick) (0-0, 0:14) WATCH HIGHLIGHT NE TD B.Green-Ellis 12 yd. run (S.Gostkowski kick) (2-15, 0:42) WATCH HIGHLIGHT MIA TD R.Williams 28 yd. pass from C.Henne (D.Carpenter kick) (8-80, 3:48) WATCH HIGHLIGHT NE TD D.Woodhead 11 yd. pass from T.Brady (S.Gostkowski kick) (12-78, 4:54) WATCH HIGHLIGHT 4th Quarter NE TD K.Arrington 35 yd. return of blocked field goal (S.Gostkowski kick) WATCH HIGHLIGHT NE TD P.Chung 51 yd. interception return (S.Gostkowski kick) WATCH HIGHLIGHT So as you see it was 7-6 at the half miami winning. in the 3rd quarter they returned a kick for a TD to make it 13-7 and take the lead then added a rushing TD to make it 20-7 miami responded back with a TD making it 20-14 NE responded again in the 3rd to make it 27-14 to start the 4th quarter. in the 4th NW didn't score on offense anymore, they scored on a Blocked FG attempt and an INT to make it it 41-14 thats not pouring it on by any means
The Pats have had an easier schedule ?!?!?! That is a ridiculous statement. The Jets & NE play the EXACT same teams for 14 games. The ONLY 2 differences is the Pats play Indy & the Chargers, while the Jets play Houston & Denver. SD & Indy are both tougher teams than Houston & Denver.
So far the schedule they have played has been easier based on opponents record. I would not say they have played en easy schedule but just as the Pats at 6-1 and all of their fans love to talk about it. Their opponents on the year at 21-29.
I really hate that stat. It needs to be in games outside of playing the Pats. (Or jets, or whomever...) Take out the 6 losses and 1 win, and the Pats opponents are 20-23 on the year. Which says their opponents are a little weaker than .500. The actual winning percentage is 0.465. If you go by the 21-29 record the opponents winning percentage is 0.300. A drastic difference, because the pats have won 6 of their 7 games so far. It would be like saying the Bills have the toughest schedule in the league because their opponents have won more games than anybody else. Well their opponents have 7 free wins right now since the Bills are terrible.
