Unfortunately all of my predictions came true. But yes there is good news. Much of the American public has seen Obama for what he is and repudiated much of his agenda. This guy will go down as one of the worst presidents in history. Only the liberals in places such as New York and California still don't get it. It's time to go back to the constitution.

What so many fail to understand is that America is in the position it now finds itself because we have not remained true to the Constitution and the principals upon which this country was founded. The Federal Government was never intended to have the power it has today. It acquired this power primarily through an edict of the Supreme Court in the 1936 Butler Case that reversed the original meaning of the Welfare Clause, and by distorting the Commerce Clause as a means of expanding the Federal Governments powers into areas which the founders never intended. The result of these actions lead to welfare programs used by politicians to buy votes and the destruction of many restrictions on the Federal Government's ability to intervene in the business and commercial structure of the country. It is these actions that have led America on the path to Socialism.

While many may not agree with all of what the Tea Party represents, their main goal is to bring America back to the Constitution. Check out their website and see what their agenda entails. Not to write a history book on the subject, but much of what is going on in this country is unconstitutional. If you want to know how it got that way go back and review the presidencies of Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and FDR among others. Graduated income tax, the EPA, OSHA, the FCC, the FDA, the NLRB, HEW, and many other federal agencies are in many ways unconstitutional. If you don't believe it do a little research. The vast majority of the actions taken by these agencies should be the purveyance of the States or the private sector. The last thing the founders of this country wanted was a huge controlling Federal Government. This should be clear to anyone with a basic understanding of American history.

Which bring us to President Obama. He is pretty much the antithesis of everything the founding fathers intended for America. He is truly trying to lead this country down a path of Socialism, which should be abhorrent to anyone who believes in the Constitution and the principals upon which this country was founded. You may think it's okay to take from the rich and give to the poor, and you are entitled to that opinion, but the fact is that's unconstitutional. It's amazing how equal protection under the law is ignored by Liberals when it suits their cause. The best thing for the American people to do is go back to their roots, get rid of the bureaucracy of big government, and start believing in the Constitution. Many of America's ills would not have reach epidemic proportions had the country followed it's own rules.

All I can hope is that the Tea Party and Republicans stick to their new agenda and take this country back. And that we never see the likes of someone like Obama again.

Yesterday, we got a two party system back! That was IMO the first step we needed to do. I feel like a third party is too much to wish for. Although, I do support the tea party and their efforts are ones I agree with. They mostly take from republicans and we cannot afford a one party system again.

In terms of healthcare it does not stand a chance to be repealed and the republicans know it, Obama can (and will) Veto any bill and with the Dems controlling the senate, over ridding the Veto is not going to happen. They should force Obama to veto it and make the dems vote for it one more time on the record so they can be held responsible in the next elections. But other than that nothing will happen with healthcare.

Are you saying Obama is willing to go down in flames over the health care issue? It's clear to me that the American people sent a strong message last night. I think it's political suicide for Obama in 2012 if he continues to push an agenda that the majority does not want.

Anyone foolish enough to say Obama will go down as one of the worst Presidents in US history, clearly has not studied enough. To think that he will be considered worse than Hayes, Grant, Harding, Buchanan or Pierce in the long term is just wrong. These men were truly terrible presidents, Obama with all of his flaws will never reach that level.

I think Grant is unfairly included in that list, imo. You should have put W in it, though. And Hoover, of course.

My least favorite is Buchanan. Fillmore is probably the worst person who ever held the office, but that's more for what he did after being president, heading up the Know Nothings.

And what about the first Johnson?

Grant's administration was a wreck. His friends robbed him and the country blind. Hoover is bad and W had his moments, but I was trying to show there are plenty of other candidates. And Andy Johnson should have been on the list, but his impeachment was a set up.

W and Hoover were not in the top 5 but it is hard to give one man all of the blame for a worldwide economic clusterfuck.

Grant was a great general but a lousy president:

Grant's inability to establish personal accountability among his subordinates and cabinet members led to many scandals during his administration. Grant often attacked vigorously when critics complained, being protective of his subordinates. Although personally honest with money matters, Grant was weak in his selection of subordinates, often favoring military associates from the war over talented and experienced politicians. He also protected close friends with his Presidential power and pardoned persons who were convicted after serving a few months in prison. His failure to establish working political alliances in Congress allowed the scandals to spin out of control. At the conclusion of his second term, Grant wrote to Congress that, "Failures have been errors of judgment, not of intent." Nepotism was rampant. Around 40 family relatives financially prospered while Grant was President.[67]

There were 11 scandals directly associated with Grant's two terms as President of the United States. The main scandals included Black Friday in 1869 and the Whiskey Ring in 1875. The Crédit Mobilier is not considered a Grant scandal; it actually began in 1864 during the Abraham Lincoln Administration and carried over into the Andrew Johnson Administration. The Crédit Mobilier scandal was exposed during the Grant Administration in 1872 as the result of political infighting between Congressman Oakes Ames and Congressman Henry S. McComb. The involvement of U.S. Ambassador to Britain, Robert C. Schenck, owning stock in the Emma Silver Mine, although corrupt, was an embarrassment to the Administration, rather than a scandal. The primary instigator and contributor to many of these scandals was Grant's personal secretary, Orville E. Babcock, who indirectly controlled many cabinet departments and was able to delay investigations by reformers. Babcock had direct access to Grant at the White House and had tremendous influence over who could see the President.

Grant appointed Benjamin Bristow to the Secretary of Treasury in 1874, who uncovered and shut down the notorious Whiskey Ring. When Secretary Bristow discovered that the President's personal secretary Babcock was involved in the ring, Grant became defensive. Grant eventually defended Babcock in an unprecedented 1876 deposition during the Whiskey Ring graft trials. The result of Grant's deposition saved his friend Babcock with an acquittal. However, political enemies and the unpopularity of giving the deposition for Babcock ruined any chances for Grant getting a third term nomination.

over time, I think only the super liberals will add W to that list. He was not as bad as Obama says he was. Of course, Mother Teresa could have been the last president and Obama would have blamed her for every ill facing him. Thats just who he is, a finger pointer instead of a what he claimed to be.

I do agree with Grant not being on that list. He was not good for the south or accomplish much but he was not as bad as the others from what I have read.

I understand the general point, but I think Reconstruction was the right thing to do, and Grant was a big supporter of that. From Wikipedia:

"Grant would go on to serve two terms in office as the 18th President of the United States. He created the Department of Justice and Office of Solicitor General, led by Attorney General Amos Akerman and the first Solicitor General Benjamin Bristow, who both prosecuted thousands of Klan's men under the Force Acts. Grant sent additional federal troops to nine South Carolina counties to suppress Klan violence in 1871. Grant also used military pressure to ensure that African Americans could maintain their new electoral status; endorsed the Fifteenth Amendment giving African Americans the right to vote; and signed the Civil Rights Act of 1875 giving people access to public facilities regardless of race. Grant's support from Congress and the nation declined due to presidential scandals during his administration; as well as the political resurgence of the elite white planter class in the South, based on the Democratic Party's use of paramilitary groups;[76] and the Republican Party's concern over financial monetary policies rather than protecting the freedmen."

How can a guy who did all that be one of the worst presidents? Imo he does not belong on that list despite the scandals, none of which I understand he personally benefitted from or intended.

Ftr I think Grant is one of the great heroes of American history. He is literally one of the three or four people in history about whom it can be said that we would not even have this country were it not for him.

Nixon did a good job until Watergate but somehow a lot of people seem to have a problem with him covering up a scandal involving a few friends that he felt compelled to protect even though doing so was totally illegal.

Ok, now multiply what Nixon did wrong time 15-20 similar scandals.

Do you still want to give Grant a pass?

W campaigned as a conservative, but increased federal spending and the government bureaucracy at a time when you should not. His tax cuts bloated the deficit, too, adding to increased income inequality - a huge and increasing problem in our country. He used false pretenses to start the wrong war - I think that was treasonous. Nothing could be worse for the commander in chief to do. He turned energy policy over the Haliburtons of this world. He ran an SEC that did nothing to prevent the growth of problems in unregulated securities markets. He stole the election of 2000. His policies led directly to the worst economic fiasco since the Great Depression. He ran a dishonest campaign based on fear in 04, won and proceeded to attempt to privatize social security, and was soundly pushed back from that - can you imagine what would have happened to people's retirement accounts in the crash?

Then there were things like allowing the K Street Culture to flourish under DeLay. Just awful. Right wing judges.

His tax cuts did nothing but increase wealth among the wealthiest and further bloated the federal debt.

He never captured Osama, and left Afghanistan a mess. I can't think of a single real foreign policy achievement. He greatly increased defense spending. He allowed China to grow without any real effort to contain them.

He took office right after the Cole bombing, but did not focus on al Qaeda, instead preferring to finish his daddy's job in Iraq. Wrong move.

The only good thing about him was when it was time to fish or cut bait in 08, he did the right thing and did not allow the economy to crater.

Just plain awful on balance, though.

Even if I were a Republican I would not like him, because for them you can add that he allowed the Dems to take control of the government because people thought W sucked so bad. You all may have short memories, but I don't.
