 im going to try and salvage this atrocity of a thread anyone hear about how cody brown is doing on the PS? i havent heard a peep about him since we picked him up
It's just human nature man, the ever moving target that you can never actually hit. When Mangini was here the masses wanted more agression. Rex provided that and for awhile it was hard to find anyone who didn't like the defense. Inevitably the defense has given up some big plays and even had some bad games, or in other words it isn't a shiny new car anymore, instead it's the 5 year old car with a few dents in it. People want another shiny new car even if it might not be as reliable as the 5 year old car.
Shawn Merriman is scheduled to be waived today by the Chargers. Do you think the Jets could go 3 for 3 on rejuvenating wasted Chargers talent?
I don't think so, but if they sign him I will be pretty optimistic about it. Every cast off they have brought in has found a productive spot on the team.
Haha well he did a good job of putting the team's goals ahead of his He is doing nothing while the team is winning....good job Vernon!
hmy: Come on man. What kind of Jets fan are you, "we WILL lose to the pats" what kind of bullshit is that, are you kidding me? Did you even watch the first game?
If we could like, edit their attributes like in Madden, and make them all 99s, we would get 35 sacks a game and have the best defense in the universe and nobody would ever get a first down on us, it would be amazing!
Even when I made all-world teams in Madden, teams could still score on me in their 2-minute drill. Go figure, they all gained magical abilities just before the half.
 That's what happens when you have elite corners. You have to give up something. QFT. However, NO TEAM in the NFL has elite pass rushers AND shutdown corners, AND a solid secondary, AND Run stuffing DLine/NT. Something has to give. If you do get all that on Defense, then you will have Tedd Ginn "catching" balls from JP Losman.
Lost in the crossfire between SOJ Darksiders and "I know what a 3-4 D is" Elitists is the fact that at the start of 2009 we were generating tremendous pressure on opposing QBs with either our 4 man rush or 5+ packages. Our blitzes were tremendously successful, but our more traditional rushes were also frequently collapsing pockets, regardless of what the sack statline says. The key changed variable is Kris Jenkins. When he was commanding a double team and still collapsing the center of the pocket, it opened up all kind of opportunities for our D-Line and LBs. Maybe he will be worth the expense/risk next year after all...
First off knowing the role of a 3-4 defensive lineman isnt elitist. It gets fucking tiring reading retarded post after retarded post made by some numbskull that thinks the defensive line is somehow deficient because it lacks sacks. On the other hand, if it's elitist to expect another poster to be somewhat coherent on a subject if they are going to opine on said subject, then color me elitist. Without Jenkins the D was still #1 in the league. I suspect by the end of the year without Jenkins it will once again be better than a top 5 D. Yeah it isn't an all time top 10 NFL defense ever. The Jets were nowhere close to being sack leaders last year either. Teams are now able to prevent mayhem from an overload blitz. That doesn't necessarily make it any less effective. The Jets are still forcing the other team to max protect to keep their QB walking upright. I would love a pass rushing stud in one of the OLB spots. Fact remains this D is better against the run and more clutch than last years version, with or without Jenkins.
No doubt all true, but we were getting more pressure with less at the start of last season. That's all I'm saying.
True, and I really should have just stated it was a little nitpicky and that was it. A healthy Jenkins would be great. Pouha could play NT and Jenkins could play DE and vice versa. The first play in the Ravens game is what comes to mind.
