Since Ive already made a 2011 Full Mock it really tempted me to make a Jets mock. With the Jets having some lower picks because of there eventual success ,IMO, finding needs may be harder then expected.

Round 1. Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State

Are defensive line needs help! More so IMO at the 3-4 DE then the NT position. Are unit has gotten better since the loss of Jenkins, but Rexy will really need to address this position after this year. Cameron Heyward had some consistency issues earlier in the year, but has and will improve on that and will be a monster come Combine time. I think we get lucky with his stock falling currently.

Round 2. Jeremy Beal, OLB, Oklahoma

Our OLB position needs to be addressed with the age of are group rising and rising. Beal is a 4-3 DE but can convert to a pass rushing OLB. Im not sure about his drop back skills but if he can improve on that will his pure skills to get to the QB he could be a STEAL in the back of the second round.

Round 4. Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami

I'm predicting that we sign Holmes and either trade or release Braylon . So with a need at WR I think Hankerson is the pick. Funny enough similar to Braylon his hands are a little inconsistent, but he has shown the ability to make some acrobatic catchs almost impossible catches. If his hands can become more consistent he can really be an exceptional WR.

Round 5. Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor

Similar in size and punch to Terrence Cody, Taylor can stuff the line with force and can do great at stopping the run but he has weight concerns that need to be looked at in the NFL but if he can add more muscle and learn to attack the outside better he could turn into a real talent under Rex.

Round 6. Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State

We need better depth at safety and a kid to groom for the Future Johnson can be that. Jeron , an All-WAC second-teamer, had 91 tackles, six pass break-ups and four interceptions in 2009 and currently in 2010 has 25 total tackles and an interception. Also a good friend of Wilsons to boot.

Round 7. Charlie Gantt, TE, Michigan State

A terrific blocker for Michigan St and would be great for Sanchez to have and help are run game even more since sometimes Keller can be a liability blocking. He can also catch well and can be a nice big target at 6-6 250.

I'd prefer a guy like Akeem Ayers in the first, who is having a great season and maybe off the board before we pick

He'll be the best OLB in the draft over Von Miller ( more because of stats then skill) He'll be a Top 20 pick .

This draft would be an incredible haul for us if it came true.. but I don't see Hankerson lasting til rd 4 or Taylor lasting til round 5. Gut feelings but I like what I see from Hankerson as a number 2 WR with some coaching and polishing. And Taylor is a massive mountain of a NT someone is going to reach for him (Den, SD, MIA) before then.

Cameron Heyward? Please no more defensive lineman from Ohio State. Remember the dud we have now sucking up salary cap money and making zero plays. Three years now and he hasn't gotten a sniff of a quarterback sack.

So they're from the same school so let's not draft him.

    Get a clue.

I'm not sure Jeron Johnson with make it to the sixth round. He's a hell of a prospect...I think he'll rise to the third round...at least.

We shouldn't draft any Ohio State players.....screw Mangold.

In fact, get rid of Holmes right now.

    Some people...jeez!!

If some how Cameron Heyward is available in late rd 1 and the Jets don't take him, I'll be pissed. Heyward has had a quiet season, nothing fantastic. I expect Heyward's stock to drop some, he's really playing out of position at OSU. Heyward is a classic NFL 3-4 DE and would be a terrific addition. Heyward is great stopping the run, sheds blocks very well and gets to the RB.

I could see Jet fans getting upset with Heyward for lack of production, but a 3-4 DE isn't your typical pass rusher and doesn't get all the stats.

I don't know how many times I said the same thing, but I still hear people complaining about 3-4 Ends with "Just" 3.5 or 4 sacks on the season.

How good someone at the 3-4 End position is cannot be determined by stats, you really have to watch them in a game to notice their impact. It's a selfless position, you have to yield most of your statistical production in exchange for helping out your team...

That's why I hate when people assessing the Jets say "they don't get enough pressure from their D-Line"

Will they have a draft during a lockout?

The CBA expires after the draft, so they will have a 2011 draft no matter what.

Jeeze didnt realize there would be so much controversy over Heyward.

Like WW85, 624, and others have said Heyward is a great prospect, the prototypical/ideal 3-4 DE. I can admit I dropped him in my draft really wanting him to drop to the Jets and luckily he did. I can see his stock fluctuating between February and April . My biggest concern is his demeanor and how he carries himself, if hes smart , level headed, and has the passion for football then he's a lock for us if hes there IMO because his raw skills are already there for the taking.

Just a heads up I will be making another Jets mock within the next few weeks , so keep a lookout for it and thanks for the comments!

I auto ignore any idiot that says this.......There are maybe 1/2 dozen De's that can adequately get pressure in a 3-4. The Jets have 2 (1 is a bit debatable), and both are pretty damn old.
