http://www.thejetsblog.com/2010/10/...rt-a-byproduct-of-mistakes-but-not-his-alone/ I think I'm going for a record on starting threads ...
At least you didn't put in a poll. Seriously, thanks for the report on Wilson. He's having growing pains, but he'll be fine. I think.
thanks for the article on Wilson. The guy is just a kid, coming from an inferior WAC conference. Wilson covered plenty of great receivers in college, but the pros is very different. Its an entirely new atmosphere. Once he gets it... he will be great. again I restate I think his first career INT comes Week 10
Although Wilson was thrown to the wolves early in the season.....the experience he received from the reps he received (season and TC) as a starter....are invaluable to his development. He may be struggling now....but this will pay off in the long run, imo.
Sucks for the kid. Football is such a mental game, and he's letting it get the better of him. IIRC he played pretty well in the pre-season, so we know he's got the skills....someone should just kick him in the ass
I think is great for him that he has to get up from a bad start when his team is 5-1, as opposite as if we were 1-5... ...he can just focus on get his head straight without dealing with outside pressure.
I have to agree with this article corner is becoming one of the toughest positions to play in this league. Especially when you play in a system as demanding as the Jets is on that position. A QB can make you look real bad by singling you out and a young kid like this could easily get down on himself after a few bad games. Its good to hear he is still working hard on getting better.
From draft day until this point if you had told me that Conner would be the Jets rookie of the year(so far) I would've said no way. Maybe even no way Jose. Conner by far has been the best rookie contributor, doing his things on ST, and he hasn't allowed a Romo like killing like that Dallas back.
kid had so much on his plate this year. he still needs to develop, and i think the kid will be a good player
You don't see rookie CBs making an impact very often. It's a tough position to learn in the NFL. I have faith that Kyle Wilson will be a star for the Jets at some point.
He was my #2 contributer, Wilson being #1. I knew Conner was a safe, solid steal of a pick. He's had at least two money blocks on Shonn's TD on the Vikes and LT's first in Denver. As far as Wilson goes, not concerned. DT's gotta get him to get his head around for the ball first, and I have total faith that he will. The bigger story relating to Wilson is the fact that Coleman's been playing out of his mind after 90% of us (me included) left him for dead.
No doubt, as I mentioned in numerous other threads, his first TC ever was a absolute circus and a game of musical DB.
Unfortunately, Conner has been the ONLY rookie contributor this year. But I still expect big things from Wilson.. hopefully he comes around toward the end of the season and can be a useful corner down the stretch. Drew Coleman always has and always will suck in my eyes, so seeing him on the field in a playoff game will make me terribly nervous. Wilson is a much more talented player, so hopefully he finds his groove soon and gets it together.
With all the talent on this team it's possible that we're going to go into a stretch of drafts where we don't see rookies contributing right away. That happens to good teams and it's not necessarily a bad thing so long as they're developing high quality depth in the process.
