First season as commish, Two of the teams in my league had a matchup, team A was up 1 1/2 points and had manningham left to play while team B was out of players, team A sat manningham so he could "take a knee" when we met up to watch the monday night game

Then this morning when the week 7 corrections were made, Pit (team B's defense) was awarded 2 points, giving team B the lead

the problems are that team A lost waiver position before the correction was made, and also only sat manningham because he had the win, Manningham put up 10 which would have given him the clear lead

My opinion is that it is yahoos error and I should edit manningham into the roster to give team A the win, but my league is pretty split on what the outcome should be, what do you guys think?

I'd leave team B with the win... there's always a chance of post game adjustments from yahoo and it was his decision to not play Manningham.

It sucks but you have to give it to Team B.

When the Colts rested their starters the whole game against the Bill last year and lost....Bills still got the win even though Colts would have destroyed them if they played the right people.

Why would you purposely sit a guy? I don't care if I'm winning by 100. At the end of the season points for count toward tie breakers. The guy deserves his loss.

Is this whole "Taking a knee" thing an excuse for forgetting to start him?

nah he used my phone to take him out about an hour before the game, I decided my best move was to put it up for a league vote, so far its 3-0 in favor of A so I think I'm just going to let the league collectively decide, thanks for all of your opinions, not a great situation for a first time commish

I get sitting the guy. The unlikely scenario that he fumbles twice and gains only 9 yards could net you a -4 (if you give -2 for fumbles). Sure, he took the knee but why....to not run up the score? Does margin of victory or total points count in your league in determining playoff position? Most leagues use this as tiebreakers come playoff time to some extent..

What was his intent in taking the knee?? It only make sense if he was trying to not lose points! And if that was the case, he deserves the loss.

As for the waiver wire, if its possible to re-do it I would go that route....do you get a report of all waiver claims?

luckily the waiver took place beforehand so it didn't mater and the team he jumped says that team A didn't take anyone he had wanted so waivers turned out to be a mute point

I think the taking a knee was more of a for shits and giggles thing, and for our tiebreaker we decided that if teams were tied for a playoff spot going into week 14 that we would set the schedule so they play for it, of course only if there are 2 teams tied at 4 and 5 of 4 teams at 3-6 (4 team playoff starting week 15) and if this did not occur then points would be the determining factor

Team B wins. That's the risk you take in sitting out a player. He doesn't deserve a win. He took a risk that there could be a stat correction. There's always that risk. It bit him in the ass.

A stat correction is like a bad call in-game. You need to deal with it and roll with the punches. Sometimes you are gonna get screwed, but there was plenty he could have done to avoid it.

    Sitting Manningham was stupid.

    Exactly. You can't change anything.

Ask yourself this, if there were no correction and Manningham put up -2 points, would you have even considered a change? No, that's the situation he avoided by not playing him.

Yahoo has made corrections in the past. This is nothing new.

Team A should have known the risks when he decided to sit Manningham. He got cute by "playing it safe" and it bit him in the ass.

As a commissioner it is not your job to interfere when a team has a simple case of bad luck.

    Team B wins.

Team B wins. Stupid move to sit the player.

As commish, you are setting yourself up for a nightmarish battle some day if you dont set up your playoff rules/tiebreakers soon. I take it this is not a money league. If it is, you need to hammer out your playoff rules ASAP. This "figure it out as we go" crap will eventually leave someone pissed.

The rule has been figured out, if there is an option for a play-in game week 14 leaving no one out we do that, if there is not an option it goes to points

and it's a very small money league, we all split the cost of a 5 foot trophy for the winner, a small dinky trophy that says "little bitch" for last place and supplies for the draft, we figure to use a cash prize next year as we already have everything paid for
