"Packers cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt acknowledged that LCB Charles Woodson could eventually move to safety, but it won't happen this season. An executive in personnel for an NFC team who has seen every Packers game this season says of Woodson: "He can't cover anymore... He's a guesser with great anticipation and instincts. That's why he's been so productive." Although his cover skills have deteriorated, Woodson can still produce "splash" plays with the best of them. Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel" As of October 22nd he was said to be 100% He's just getting old.
If the mike jacobs tackle is in there too that would be nice. Revis is one of the best run support CBs in the game, if not the best.
You are sadly misinformed. Revis is the most complete corner in the game. Rex might not blitz him much because to quote him in a press conference "Why would we send the best cover guy in the world on a blitz?" Your posts no longer have ANY credibility with me. Woodson is a great tackler, I'm willing to admit that....but so is Revis. It has never been a weakness of his, never will be. Revis is physical. Revis allowed 0 catches his first game. Then he allowed a TD to a hall of fame WR from a hall of fame QB on a top 10 catch while hurting his hamstring on the route.... He came back adn was lights out 3 quarters against Minnesota, then the fatigue caught up to him and he struggled a little. He was light outs for normal Cb standards against Denver. Woodson is a great playmaking corner, but he gets burned all the time. He might have Revis in the box score, but fuck the box score. Stats don't mean anything for a corner, and anyone that knows football would take Revis over Woodson any day of the week. (See the playoffs vs Arizona last year...)
Lewis and Harvin made Revis look bad in Minnesota. Revis got beat 2x in denver by AVERAGE WR's. Granted, hes wasnt 100% at the time but dont act like he played up to his standards when he clearly didnt.
Funny enough, The Harvin TD was Wilson's fuck up and Revis is responsible for Lewis even though there was a total breakdown in coverage. The only real TD scored on Revis this year was Moss' one handed grab. Everything else has a technicality behind it.
I said he played good for an average CB standards. ...and I siad he looked good the first 3 quarters against Minny, which he did. The 2 catches he allowed against Denver he had good coverage, just perfect throws and slightly mistimed PD attempts.
I don't think he was. Also, when did Revis get beat in Denver? They completed 4 passes on him I think and all of them were good throws into tight coverage. Last year Revis might have still broken them up but he was still in good position.
I thought it was 3....and one of them was the TD that would have been overturned if challenged. The only reason it wasn't challenged was because we got screwed on the previous play.. Reffing in the NFL has sucked this year.
I'm excited we are 5-1 despite our secondary problems so far. I'd be happy if we were 4-2 at this point. Only gonna get better.
I expected us to be good and winning games, just not in the fashion that we have won some. Which is a good thing, once all pieces of the puzzle are connected I don't see a a team we can't beat if we play correct. (Like a Jet)
That goes both ways buddy. Woodson gets burned all the time? Arizona playoff loss? You mean the two plays where Fitz bull rushed Woodson 20 yards down field? League said both should have been offensive PI. You see what you want to see to frame your argument. I'm not saying Revis isn't the best COVER CORNER, he is!! Woodson and Revis are used very differently. Woodson is used in the slot or inside, Revis strictly plays strictly outside. Woodson blitzes and can play press coverage on TE's (See Jason Whitten last year). At this stage of their careers I'd take Revis too, HE'S YOUNGER. But to simply dismiss Woodson like he's finished as a corner are laughable on your part. At least we can know Woodson is going to the HOF and will probably be an all pro at safety when he moves there. His career is mirroring that of his cousin, HOF Rod Woodson to a tee. Revis may be the best now, we'll see if his consistency can hold up as long as Woodson's has!
You are misinformed. Guys that are 100% healthy aren't listed on the injury report weekly and practice once a week. Here's a roundup of the practice: Wide receiver Donald Driver (thigh), cornerback Charles Woodson (toe), linebacker Brad Jones (shoulder) and end Ryan Pickett (ankle) did not practice. Driver and Pickett weren't in attendance, Woodson and Jones stood around during walk-throughs. Defensive end Cullen Jenkins (calf) took part in the walk-through and then worked out with the strength and conditioning staff off to the side. He appeared to be moving a lot better than he was Sunday. Tackle Mark Tauscher (shoulder) returned to practice after missing three games and appeared cleared to do everything. Rookie Bryan Bulaga lined up as the starter, however. Tackle Chad Clifton (knee) took part in the walk-through only as is customary on Wednesday. All three of the Packers' new linebackers were in attendance and taking part in drills. Erik Wilhem, Diyral Briggs and Erik Walden all got indoctrinated to the Packers' way of doing things. Wilhelm has the best chance of helping out on special teams because of his experience. Cornerback Al Harris and safety Atari Bigby both were involved in all the drills and got practice reps with the others in team drills.
Revis doesn't strictly play outside, he plays wherever the other team's best WR is....which is usually outside. What do you mean "that goes both ways"...are you implying Revis gets burned? Woodson is still an awesome playmaking DB.....but Revis is the best, most complete corner in the game. Don't classify him as just a cover corner just because that's usually what he is asked to do....he can blitz and is a top run support CB as well.
