It's one of those weird matchups that we always seem to win just like w/ Minnesota and TB while on the flip side we always seem to lose to Philly and Washington. The lone loss we have had in my lifetime was a controversial one too, in '94 at Lambeau they called back a long Richie Anderson TD on a phantom call and going in for the tying TD in the final minute Rob Moore was dragged down w/ no call.
How the Jets organization performed against the Packers in previous years is completely irrelevent. Those teams that faced each other are long gone. It's a dumb statistic, and I wish people would stop using it as some sort of indicator that we're likely to win.
That Packer fan kept bringing it up, I agree but you don't know how some players feel. Some might use it to their advantage, anything to get any kind of mental edge. It's only for information, I see no harm in knowing the Jets are 8-2 all-time against the Pack but obviously it has no impact on a game yet to be played. I doubt anyone here saw that we were 8-2 and thought, YES we've this in the bag because in our previous 10 meeting we won 8 times.
It's not dumb, it's information and the more info we have the better we all are. Does it mean we'll win b/c we have dominated the series? of course not but this is one of those weird series where we always find a way to win no matter how good or bad the teams are.
LOL- I actually could picture Bart Scott saying something stupid like that. Couple with a quote from Talladega Nights.
the next two games -- arguably the two least important on the schedule (inter conference) are in the bag and so is the rematch with the Mangenius 8-1 with the Texans and Bengals coming to OUR HOUSE 10-1 for the rematch with the cheating douchebags in Sucksboro
Good Packers Forum here. Waldo and Palmy are the best posters. Palmy has done some scouting for the Steelers. Footballfutures.com
Agree with you on the Jets part of 2 weeks to prepare is an advantage. However, losing the previous week does not make a team hungrier. The Broncos lost a heart breaker to the jets and get stomped by the raiders and the cowboys lost to viks and got beaten up by the giants. Winning breads confidence and creates good vibes. Losing creates turmoil and finger pointing( case and point dallas and san diego). Green Bay posses tons of confidence now after that tough win over Minnesota.
Ok.. Your defense is overrated IMO. You have ?? that can come off the edge and get to Rodgers? All your pressure comes from exotic blitzes which leave your corners exposed. Revis is great and will handle Jennings. Crow's weakness is the slant ( see favre to Jennings against SD game winner 2007) He's solid against the deep ball, that's it. He'll be matched on Driver who isn't 100%. Jones will draw your nickle guy who is a rookie I believe. That's the matchup GB will go to with fantastic results! If we go four wide who's going to cover Jordy Nelson? We don't need Jennings to beat you guys. Revis can't cover everyone. Brandon Jackson is one of the best backs at picking up the blitz. How many sacks do your OLB have this year? Thought so.. You ask for some smack, reaction!!
being as your running game is so dominant theres no way Rex Ryan whos never had worse than 6th overall defense since being a DC/HC could possibly focus on slowing down your passing attack? no not possible huh? Brandon Jackson picks up the blitz, really? mustve been kickin ass last yr when Rodgers was running for his life. aside from last week your OL has been laughable. theres so many 3-4 teams in your division, Rodgers gets to play a 3-4 so often especially varied fronts. as you said our blitz packages wont be effective cause im sure hes used to reading them, oh wait.....your whole division is 4-3 outside of GB Rodgers also makes a few horrible plays in close games. yet hes the only reason they stay in most games. guess your relying on him to be perfect? oh Cromartie gave up some passes 3 years ago. so hes gonna get torched this week right? youll eat those words when he gets an INT this week. most of your defense is banged up. maybe you forgot about this thing called an Offensive Line? the Jets certainly have one. meanwhile your front 7 is riddled with injuries and your run defense is not close to what it was last year without Nick Barnett enjoy Shonn Greene and LT making each and every one of your fans look forward to their flight back to dairyland. as theyre forced to not only watch their team go home 4-4 still in the playoff race in an overrated division. but PAYING CASH to see it this must be like a playoff game for you guys since your in the NFC.
Clifton, our LT just got healthy; been playing hurt all year. Bulaga our first round pick has settled in at RT and played well last week. You can't even compare our O-line to last year. Our RT last year was horrid and no longer employed. Ryan would be wise to sit back in cover 2 and play underneath coverage. Teams have been doing this because they don't respect our running game which has gotten better the last two weeks. Look at our ypc. it's middle of the road, hardly poor. Our attempts are low because our coach likes to pass too much. Can't argue with you guys running on us. It's what I'd do. We're very thin up front and Raji who has been playing lights out has been playin' too many snaps. We need either Pickett or Jenkins to play to contain your backs. Bishop is an upgrade over an overrated Nick Barnett IMO. Barnett has a bum knee and a lot of mileage on those knees. Show me a QB that doesn't make a few bad plays a game? Rodgers is solid, not elite yet. Only 3 years as a starter, how long did it take Manning to win a playoff game? Can't argue with your take on the NFC, but this a playoff game? Please.. You guys are good but talk to me in Dec about being good not in Oct. Still a lot of football to be played.
Rookie Kyle Wilson is our 4th corner now, Drew Coleman is our nickel...and he's done a great job the last few weeks Don't expect the Jets to play Cover 2 all day... Normal team's corners may be exposed, but with Revis and Cro, they can hold their own. Rex's defense is designed to leave them 1on1....and he's confident in them.
I think Rodgers will put up good yardage numbers, but I don't think they will equate to points. That may be due to the Jets bending but not breaking, or due to turnovers. I do think, just like the Broncos, that the Packers will pick up more yards on the ground than expected. The Jets should run all day long, but who knows what will happen.
earlier you laughed and asked how many sacks from our OLB. Bologna will be going against Pace who had 8 sacks in 12 games last year. yea he played well 1 week for the first time as a rookie. yay guess hes gonna be lights out. and unlike you guys we bring much more pressure up the middle. dont think the only way to rodgers is off the edge. last time i checked. youll get your yardage but and our blitz schemes allow big plays but thats my point. as long as we protect the ball and chew clock I see McCarthy asking Rodgers to win this game. Brandon Jackson wont be doing it. Adrian Peterson had a modest outing against us as opposed to manhandling most front 7's. as far as playing Cover 2 all game. thats retarded. Rex would rather give you your YPC on the ground and force bad throws. look what happened in DEN. they got a free touchdown from the refs, and we still contained the 2nd ranked passing offense in the air. your problem is you think Cromartie can only cover 1 route and everyone not named Revis in our secondary sucks. your in for a rude awakening. nick mangold and brandon moore say hello. Raji will be tired in the second half and thats when I really expect Greene/LT to start getting yards in chunks with that ground game its gonna take an elite performance to beat us. thats my point that has more to do with me thinking no NFC team is even top 5 in the NFL this year. which you said you cant argue. and my point was most of the teams in the nfc are scrubs vs the afc this year so the elevated level of play will be like seeing an opponent in the playoffs. I think the Packers are a top 3 NFC team i just think theres 5 or 6 teams in the AFC better than anything the NFC has this yr. thats my point. EDIT: notice how i havent even mentioned our passing game? I see Keller hitting a go route while GB sends Mathews off the edge and Edwards or Holmes being doubled next to him leaving him 1 on 1. i could go on our recieving corps is as impressive as yours, its just not required for us to air it out to compete in games.
That would be sweet though if we beat you guys. Im still a little mad about that butt whooping the last time you laid on us so some revenge would be nice.
Also just so you are aware. Your name should be Green and Yellow. Packers official color: Green Bay Packers Yellow-RGB: 252, 201, 23 / HTML: FCC917 CMYK: 00, 24, 94, 00
