Other: For the NES -- Dragon Warrior I -- IV (Or the Dragon Quest Series) SOme of the original sequels were released for the PS1, and PS2, but they have all been upgraded and re-released for the Gameboy advanced, and DS. I'm playing Dragon Quest 9 right now, and enjoying it immensely. I'll give second place to Zelda, although I haven't played anything beyond Ocarina of time.
Honorable mentions: Metal Gear - the original was damn near impossible. Contra - Try finishing that game WITHOUT the code and you'll agree with me.
Zelda, easyyyyy. TOoC is one of the best games ever. God I need to get my N64 shipped here from back home...
I was a NES guy too. Loved Metroid, Megaman, Super Mario and all the Konami games (Contra, Blades of Steel, Castlevania etc).
Both true. I can't decide between Mario and Zelda. They are hands down the best video game franchises ever.
Mario, for sure. Mario 64 was the bomb, as well as all the classic Marios and Mario Kart. Zelda has OoT and Majora's Mask, two of my favourite games of all time, but as a franchise, Mario is better because there's just more.
Bingo. The classic 8-bit ones were my favorite, but the X series on the SNES was pretty cool too. I sorta stopped caring after they got all weird (except for Legends, which was so awesome), but the recent release of Mega Man 9 and 10 brought me back in a big way. After beating those, I went back and replayed a bunch of the old NES ones again. What a nostalgia rush.
Mario & Zelda are well known franchises. Always played the Mario's on all formats until just recently with the Wii. I never got into the older Zelda's but began with the SNES one and was hooked thereafter. However, Megaman was one of my favorite franchises ever. That and Ninja Gaiden. I can't believe Ninja Gaiden gets no respect. Castlevania was another one.
What no Donkey Kong on that list? Mario came out of the DK franchise. Used to play that on coleco vision way back when That being said, obviously super mario brothers is the #1 franchise
