newsflash...he'll get millions in Texas too. Lee is gonna get paid regardless of who he signs with.

    And yes...if the skidmark he married doesn't like New York....guess what...you're S.O.L.

I don't make the rules....but i've been married 5 years....i haven't made a decision for myself since Oct.7, 2005....that's the laws of nature after you slap a ring on her finger.

If the Yankees offer up 30-50 million more than what anybody else is I'm willing to bet his wife warms on the idea of NY. Isn't that what happened with CC (wife wasn't big on NYC so the Yankees upped their offer)?

Women love money and the glamor of being the wife of a NY Yankee pitcher. That being said, there's no way she's going to stop Lee from becoming a Yankee.

Sabathia's wife's first choice was San Fran last year, but the years and money swayed both of them. Plus CC's and Cliff Lee's wife are really good friends as are the two of them, and I'm sure they'll be used in the recruiting process. It certainly doesn't help the Yankees case, but an extra couple million a year to put towards their Little Rock, Arkansas landscaping is a pretty solid rebuttal to a couple of drunk idiots.

So what prospects could we (realistically) expect to contribute next year besides Montero?

Nova, Betances, Brackman, and Banuelos all have a shot, as does Romine.

Not really contribute but to make an appearance and hopefully do successfully?

Id go with Ian Nova, Manny Banuelos and Andrew Brackman they will definitely see some bullpen time and if Nova can breakout I wouldn't be surprised to see him as our 6th starter/ Long relief guy.

Newsflash: When I said millions are at stake, I was referencing the difference between NY's offer and Texas's. If they're they same, well, shame on the Yankees for not exerting the influence they have.

Yeah, you'll notice that did nothing to address my earlier comment. Only the dumbest of the dumb make decisions about how they feel regarding an entire city based on a handful of fans at a sports stadium. That's like you deciding that England sucks because you didn't care for Heathrow Airport. Sounds pretty dumb when you look at it like that, huh?

I feel sorry for you. Fortunately for the rest of society, not every situation is exactly like yours. I've been married since 2004. We make decisions together. I care about her happiness, and she cares about mine. But she also corrects me when I'm being an idiot and I do the same for her. Leaving $10M on the table solely because of the behavior of some fans at a sporting even is one of those situations where I would be correcting my wife for being an idiot.

Nova showed flashes last season, is it completely out of the question he could be our 5th starter?

Yes YEs YES. Im sorry but he needs to have some more experience under his belt to be the 5th starter on this team. If anything hes an emergency starter.

Hopefully in the future he can come out and become a 3rd or 4th starter but for now N.O. too much of a risk and we'd damage his potential.

How would big league experience damage his potential? Sincere question. I can't seem to understand our up-bringing of prospects.

You do face lesser competition. You face the other team's #5 who is probably going to give up more runs then you are..if you are a Yankee pitching in that spot.

Nope. By the third week of the season, all the pitching matchups are out of whack because of different off days, rainouts, and such.

Hell, Sabathia was facing Tampa's #5 starter, Wade Davis, in the fifth game of the season.

Actually, he just spoke truth. I doubt there's any conniving there. Any professional athlete has dealt with asshole fans countless times over.

i wish I can be there to lick your tears when Lee decides not to sign with you douchebags.

LOL @ the Heathrow airport comparison.......all it takes is a few fans to fuck something up...fans were throwing beer and spitting at her....are you really this retarded?..first impressions are everything.....but i wouldn't expect you to know that.

I highly doubt you would correct your wife in any situation.....now i know you're full of shit.

Oh...and don't feel sorry for me, Cappy....i HAVE all my chromosomes intact....you can't say the same, unfortunately.

EDIT: unless of course...the wife is obedient because you mail ordered her in the from Sudan....which wouldn't surprise me either.

This is what the fans of fourth place teams are resigned to hoping for? How sad.

He who overuses the ellipsis shouldn't accuse others of mental retardation.

You might want to read the article with Lee's quotes above.

Um, you don't know me. Or my wife. You don't even have any rational grounds on which to base this judgment short of some 1950's ethos and cliches about women. I've corrected her many times, and she's corrected me plenty of times. You'll probably be amazed to find out that when it happens they don't even turn into arguments. *gasp* Oh, the maturity! Oh, the productive discussions!

Wow. I think someone might need a time out. Are you pissy because you just realized that not everyone has a dysfunctional relationship or something? I don't know you, so all I have to go by are your assumptions about what a wife's behavior must be like, and your reference to Lee's wife as a "skidmark."

    Seriously, though, why so hostile?

I love that you came back in to edit your post just to include this jab. Thought of it at the last second, huh? Sad.

Seriously, dude, what is your problem? Who pissed in your cheerios this morning?

I'm in a bad mood this morning.....I apologize for being hostile.

Having said that...i still don't think Lee will sign with the Yanks...if he does, i have egg on my face....but i don't think it happens.

    It's cool.

He might not sign with the Yankees. If he doesn't, though, I highly doubt it's because of the behavior of a handful of fans at Yankee Stadium.

    Who is a worse wife?
Leon Washington's cunt wife, or Cliff Lee's cunt wife?
