@nyjets New York Jets EA: The Jets have signed LB Josh Mauga from the practice squad, waived DT Howard Green and signed LB Kenwin Cummings to the practice squad. Doesn't that put us back at 52 active players? ...is Jarron Gilbert ready to be activated?
I'm thinking either Gilbert or a WR that excels in special teams (Kelley Washington, Sam Aiken?). I think the only reason we elevate Gilbert would be because someone wanted to get him... otherwise he'd stay on the PS. I'm a Kroul believer for the NT position... and Dixon is listed in that position (thought he was going to play DE for us but whatever) we'll see...
Being an NFL starter is glamorous and all, but it must be tough being a player like Howard Green who jumps from team to team not knowing how long they'll be there. Brutal.
I'm just thinking about guys that might be useful for ST purposes... if you are the 53rd man on a roster as talented as the Jets' you either have to be a hidden gem at some position or a good ST player...
Chauncey Washington isn't good at special teams. He forced a fumble that was shown on Hard Knocks, so some people assume that he's a good special teamer. He wouldn't be more valuable than a special teams linebacker.
We need to activate Vinny T , wheel him out when we are 14-1 against the bills . With this oline he would put up 500 yds and 8tds!! Vinny T!!! Make it happen tanny
If I refresh now it shows him on the practice squad. 5 minutes ago he was listed on the active roster.
"By Rich Cimini As expected, the New York Jets signed LB Josh Mauga Tuesday from their practice squad. He replaces LB Kenwin Cummings, who was waived last week because his special-teams play wasn't up to par. But, wait, Cummings isn't gone. He cleared waivers and was re-signed to the practice squad. Meanwhile, the Jets released DT Howard Green, leaving one opening on the 53-man roster. They're down to five players in the usual defensive-line rotation, but the Jets evidently believe they don't need the extra big body because Sunday figures to be a pass-heavy game against the Green Bay Packers." LINK, it's all here though.
