Who knows...RBs are a weird bunch. Remember when Larry Johnson was OMG THE BEST RB EVAR? Yeah, that lasted all of 2 seasons.
Unfortunately, I don't think Chris Johnson is going to last long. The way they use him is crazy, he takes a massive beating every game. Peterson needs to stay healthy too though....and his running style is just violent. If they both can stay healthy then definitely, I just think Peterson will be more consistent throughout hsi career.
yeah, he ran behind a great line then a couple linemen retired and the KC line became mediocre at best then Johnson got too full of himself and got into trouble off the field and that was that Motley was another great back and if we want to go really old school Thorpe, Grange, and Nagurski need to be noted.
RBs are mostly fungible See Shaun Alexander and many others. They're dependent on blockers and scheme and few are exceptional talents that are worth large investments. I'd just draft a RB in the mid rounds every couple of years and then let them walk if they succeed and demand a large contract. I'd put my resources into other areas, like the lines. Keeping the OL together is more important than keeping the same RB each year.
It's tough for me to think that about Johnson. I watched about a dozen Tennessee games in both 2008 and 2009, but have not watched them too much this season. In his first two seasons, I did not see Johnson take too many bad hits. He reminded me of Curtis Martin in his ability to avoid nasty hits. If a running back has excellent vision, then that will help him to avoid big shots. There can be a skill to it and I believe Johnson has it. But, again, I haven't watched him too much this year and maybe he has taken some bad blows this season.
this drive is it, because Minnesota doesn't have time to punt and get it back. They score a TD here or it's over.
Plus Herman Edwards ruined him by destroying the single season carry record. He hasn't been the same since that year.
Does anybody else find it ridiculous the Vikings have their best player (Peterson) on the bench here during the most critical part of the game? And they have Toby Gerhart in instead?? It's not even like they have an explosive 3rd down back kind of guy..
which is more likely to drain GB of all emotion for next week, finally beating Favre, or losing to him at the last minute?
